In a recent address to our seniors, our school president praised the students for embodying the ideas that they have learned in the classroom. These ideas, which they've wrestled with in class and defended in their theses presentations, are not abstract topics, but the real, tangible things.
And between wrapping up academic work and enjoying some well-earned celebration, our seniors spent a day of service at Holy Family Farm in Monticello, NY, doing real, tangible things. They embodied the virtues developed in the classroom and embraced their charge of being a light for the world (and, in the case of lighting a bonfire, very literally).

Our freshmen took their learning into the city on a Lower Manhattan field study, tracing New York’s history through its most iconic landmarks. At Ellis Island, Brooklyn Bridge, and the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, students encountered the city not just as a backdrop, but as a living record of immigration, innovation, resilience, and national transformation.
Along the way, they took in a bright, clear day in one of the most consequential cities in the world, pausing for moments of reflection (and a few well-earned sweet treats!) while connecting classroom lessons to the streets where history actually unfolded.

This week our seniors have been busy presenting and defending their thesis projects — the capstone of their classical education at LGA.
Here’s one senior defending her thesis, “The Third Way Between Two False Dichotomies,” drawing from Genesis, the works of Homer, Plato, Aristotle, Simone de Beauvoir, Edith Stein, and the Gospels to develop and defend a thoughtful interdisciplinary argument before faculty and peers.
These thesis defenses showcase years of reading, writing, discussion, and formation, and give our seniors the opportunity to demonstrate intellectual maturity, analytical skill, and grace under pressure.
