MHA student Alyssa Pittman, MS, OTR/L, CLT, recently presented at the North Carolina Occupational Therapy Association Fall Conference in Charlotte, NC (Oct 24–25, 2025).

She co-led the workshop titled “Sharpening the Edge: Clinical Reasoning & Communication for Confident OT Practice”, helping early-career practitioners strengthen clinical reasoning and professional communication through evidence-based strategies and real-world tools.

Alyssa also presented her poster, “Formation of a Learning Health System in the Setting of an Academic Medical Center,” highlighting how clinicians can use routine documentation to drive meaningful, data-informed research and quality improvement.

We are incredibly proud of Alyssa's work and look forward to cheering her on throughout her career!!!

Blake Lutz, an alum of Appalachian State’s Health Care Management undergraduate program and now a Master of Health Administration (MHA) student.

Blake spoke with students in Dr. Cornejo’s Ethics in Healthcare Management undergraduate class about navigating the workplace as a new graduate and staffing shortage management in health care—sharing real-world insights that prepare undergraduates for the challenges of tomorrow.

Moments like these highlight the strength of the App State pathway—where students build a foundation in Health Care Management and then advance their careers through our CAHME-accredited MHA program.
