🚀 We’re GEARing UP!

September 21–25 is National GEAR UP Week! 🎓

GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) is a national initiative designed to encourage high expectations for students and help them stay focused and on track for college, postsecondary education, training, and employment.

Together, we’re helping students explore careers, discover college opportunities, set goals, and build the skills they need for life after high school.

Big dreams start with big opportunities. Let’s GEAR UP!

Important reminder for this week! ⏰
Wednesday, Sept. 23 will be an early release day for our schools.
K-8 schools will dismiss at noon, and Watauga High School and Innovation Academy will dismiss at 1 p.m.

In 3rd grade this week, students wrapped up their geography unit with a "Choose Your Own Adventure” Geography Challenge!

Students had to make tough choices along the way: Would they cross the river or climb the mountain? Then, would they row across the ocean or trek across the desert? Finally, would they brave the tundra or travel through the hot equator? After completing each challenge, students discovered a map that led them to the fertile land—where things grow! 🌱
