The University Libraries were honored to host Kate Quinn in the Grandview Ballroom last week for an evening filled with conversation, storytelling, and connection.

Rain, thunder, lightning, and storms couldn’t stop our Library Advisory Council tailgate! 🌧️⛈️

Even with a little rainy weather, we still had a wonderful gathering filled with great friends, delicious food, and plenty of fun. We’re grateful for this dedicated group whose support for our library shines through in every season. 💙📚

Gus update! 🐾📚

Gus has had the best couple of weeks seeing everyone around the library! From getting lots of pets to making new friends, he’s loved every minute of his time at Belk Library. 🐶

He hopes everyone had a great Labor Day weekend and is ready to get back into the swing of things!

Gus will be back next week on Tuesday from 2–3 p.m. Stop by, say hello, and take a study break with your favorite library pup! 🐾

Labor Day weekend is here, Mountaineers! 🏔️

The University Libraries will have adjusted hours from September 4–7 in observance of the holiday.

🕒 Labor Day Hours:

📚 Belk Library

• Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
• Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• Sunday–Monday: Closed

🎵 Music Library

• Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• Saturday–Monday: Closed

📖 Hickory Library

• Friday: 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• Saturday–Monday: Closed

Open House was a success! 🏰✨

Our Renaissance-themed Open House brought plenty of fun to the University Libraries! From mini games and free food and drinks to bracelets, trinkets, prizes, and more, there was something for everyone to enjoy. 💫🌿

We hope you had as much fun as we did! Thank you to everyone who stopped by, played a game, grabbed a snack, and explored the many free resources and services offered by the University Libraries. 📚

Freddie’s Friday Adventure!📚

Freddie spent the day exploring Special Collections! He analyzed archived materials, browsed the collections, conducted interviews, and learned more about the stories behind our resources. 🔎

We had such a great time exploring Historic Fort Defiance and the Western North Carolina Sculpture Center in Happy Valley!

From learning about the region’s history on a guided tour to experiencing local art and sculpture, it was a wonderful day of discovery and connection to our community.
