• Substitute teacher reimbursement up to $120 per participant
• 10 total program hours provided for certified educators to be used towards CEU credits (4 hours of additional work

The MSEC is pleased to announce that the annual STEAM Expo is moving to the Fall Semester. By moving to October, we aim to avoid the typical conflicts associated with spring breaks, standardized testing schedules, and end-of-year faculty obligations. Save the Date: Tuesday, October 13th, 9:30am to 12:30pm.

Spotlight Time: CI 3230 Math Clinic on Monday & Wednesdays!

Our final clinic to spotlight is our Monday/Wednesday CI 3230 clinic with our Elementary Education majors!

Held right here on campus in the Reich College of Education, this clinic ran after school twice a week, providing 1st–5th grade students with focused, one-on-one math support.

Our future elementary educators did a fantastic job:

Delivering high-quality, individualized instruction

Making math meaningful and FUN

Building strong, trusting relationships with their students

This clinic was collaboratively led by Dr. Cacey Wells and Dr. Kelly Ann Womack from the Department of Learning, Teaching, and Curriculum, with Jennifer Brown, a 4th Grade Teacher at Blowing Rock School who served as the clinic supervisor.

We are so proud of the impact these students and leaders are making through hands-on, community-centered learning.

Our clinics for the spring semester have ended, but stay tuned for information about our Fall mathematics clinics that will be starting back up in September!

STEM is a family affair!

We had an incredible turnout this past Tuesday at Blue Ridge Elementary in Ashe County! MSEC Affiliate Faculty members Lianne Jones and Cacey Wells facilitated a Family STEM Night filled with discovery and hands-on learning.

It was wonderful to see so many families exploring together. Thank you to everyone who came out and made the night a huge success!

After a great debrief on the expo's impact, we were joined by Natalie Foreman, Publishing Manager for University Libraries. She shared some incredible insights into Open AIR and how it supports our academic community. Huge thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to the conversation!
