That’s a wrap on Iowa FCCLA State Leadership Conference 2026! Our week was jam packed with STAR Events, networking, workshops, the expo, a fashion show (including Alice!), meet and greets, service projects, Say YES to FCS (featuring our very own Desire!), motivational speakers, more networking, learning, and lots of FUN! ♥️🤍✨ This team works so hard, gives back to our community and school, and absolutely crushed it this week! ALL of our students competing this week earned GOLD!! 🥇🏆

Alice competed in Fashion Construction STAR Event with her “Riding Through The Decades” suit. She received a GOLD and qualified for nationals!

Desire competed in Focus on Children STAR Event with “Pack the Gym Night!” Desire organized, planned and led a spirit week of activities for our school district and community- bringing everyone together to support the Toreadors! She earned a GOLD!

Kyra, Claire, & Callie competed in Chapter Service STAR Event with “Winter Clothing Drive.” They held a fundraiser, winter clothing drive, and collected money to purchase winter gear for the elementary students in need in our district. They earned a GOLD and qualified for nationals!

We are headed to NATIONALS in DC this July!! Please consider a donation to Boone FCCLA to support these students that do so much for our school and community! ♥️🤍✨

We also stopped at Fareway to pick up cookies and snacks Aric donated for PTG night. Did you know Aric graduated from Iowa State with a degree in Family Consumer Sciences?! He’s one of Boone FCCLA’s biggest supporters!

Making this stop extra special was a surprise visit from Dave “Ope” Oppedahl. Dave, a 1959 Boone graduate, told us he was the original Toreador mascot. Clint Sandeen, Boone graduate and head of costuming at then Twentieth Century Fox Film, had this costume shipped in from Hollywood and Dave looked to be the right size to fit it. What a fun piece of Toreador history to stumble upon.

Another highlight from PTG- Boone Hy-Vee has been a huge supporter of FCCLA and our FCS classes. For PTG night they generously donated all of the ingredients for our chili feed. Just a “few” students stopped by to tell them thank you. (Including the band- video in comments.) 😅 Thanks for supporting our students!

Going to share a few PTG favorite moments. Up first- our very first chili customer was retired Boone FCS teacher legend- Mrs. Hutchinson. She was glad to support FCCLA as they travel to state and shared stories of trips she took her students on. Thank you for supporting our students Hutchinsons!
