We are excited to grow our little acorn into a bigger tree in Summer 2023. Consider joining us! Current and returning graduate students in the Department of English may receive 6 hours of elective credit toward their degree. Other participants may register as non-degree seeking students. If they opt to enroll as graduate students in the next 12 months after completing the institute, they also may apply the 6 credit hours to their degree.

In addition, we are offering a non-credit option, which will allow teachers to receive Continuing Education Units (CEUs), but not receive graduate credit.

We invite interested participants to join us for our second annual Summer Institute, which utilizes the National Writing Project Summer Institute curriculum. The 2023 theme will be "Writing as Resistance." Through a series of writing activities and discussions, we will explore how writing can be a source of resistance and self-expression for us and for our students. We especially welcome K-14 teachers, writers, and anyone who wants to explore the ways in which writing can change themselves and the world.

The 2023 Summer Institute will be open to 15 interested participants. Current Department of English graduate students will receive 6 hours of elective credit toward their degree. Other interested participants may register as non-degree seeking students. Or, if they do not wish to receive graduate credit and just want 12 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), they may register for no credit.
