We picked the PERFECT day to visit ! Students from the 2nd year cohort attended the Creepy Critters Program where they got to see a rescued box turtle, a tarantula named Rapunzel, grey frogs named Boogie and Snot, millipedes and Sally, the corn snake. We also walked around the many wildlife habitats to see a black bear taking a nap, a cougar sleeping on a tree branch and two bald eagles. The day ended at the Mile-High Swinging Bridge where we saw some gorgeous views.

The out-of-class experiences continue for SDAP students! Last week, scholars attended the NC Post-Secondary Education Alliance Capacity Building Summit in Hickory! While there, they participated in a round table chat with alumni and current students from PSE programs, joined a session on mindfulness and attention activities, and spoke on a panel about inclusion strategies on the campus. They were proud to share their experiences!
