We are an enrichment program that uses Waldorf methods of education for TK/Kindergarten - 8th grade.

Willow Tree is a Waldorf-Inspired program located in Fallbrook, CA. Willow Tree is a place where children experience the joy of learning in an environment rich in challenging academic programs and active community involvement. While upholding high standards for personal responsibility, students are encouraged to explore the world around them and to have the courage to take risks. The Willow Tree community nurtures each child’s innate inquisitiveness and ingenuity, while ensuring that their confidence keeps pace with their capabilities.

A little autumn magic is coming to Willow Tree, and we can’t wait to share it with our community! 🍁

Join us for our 3rd Annual Wanderer’s Way, an enchanting evening where children and their parents or guardians journey together along a beautiful path through our Lilac grounds. Along the way, you’ll discover four special story stops, each filled with wonder, warmth, delight, and a yummy treat! 🧡🔦

Designed especially for little wanderers ages 3–9, this gentle Halloween adventure is a sweet alternative to the spooky scares, inviting families to slow down, explore, and make magical memories together beneath the autumn sky.

🎟️ $12 per child (parents, guardians, and babies in arms are free!)

🕯️ Walk times: 5:30, 5:45, 6:00, and 6:15 PM
🍂 Costumes are welcome! Please leave masks and scary costumes at home.

Space is limited to 20 children per time slot, so we encourage families to reserve their tickets ahead of time at www.friendsofwillowtree.org

🍂🧶 A little bit of autumn, made by hand. 🎃

Our second graders have been working so hard in handwork, learning the art of knitting one stitch at a time. There have been dropped stitches, tangled yarn, moments of frustration, and lots of perseverance along the way—but their hard work has paid off!

Today, just in time for the fall season, each child got to take home their very own knit pumpkin. 🎃🤎 There is something especially sweet about seeing a child hold something they have made with their own two hands.

In Waldorf education, handwork is so much more than learning how to make something. Knitting helps strengthen fine motor skills, coordination, focus, patience, and the ability to follow a rhythm and sequence. But perhaps most importantly, it gives children the experience of creating something beautiful through their own effort.

The hands are busy, the mind is engaged, and the child gets to experience that wonderful feeling of I made this.

One stitch at a time. 🧶✨

🐉✨ Michaelmas at Willow Tree | A Festival of Courage ✨🐉

As the days grow shorter and autumn settles around us, we come to Michaelmas, a festival that invites us to turn inward and discover the courage that lives within us.

In the story of St. George and the Dragon, the dragon represents the fears and challenges we all encounter, while St. George reminds us that with courage, faith, and a willing heart, we can meet those challenges rather than turn away from them. Michaelmas is a time to celebrate bravery, strength, perseverance, and hope—and to remind our children that courage does not mean having no fear, but finding the strength to move forward even when we are afraid.

At Willow Tree, Thursday is thoughtfully coined “Dragon Day.”🐉 The children spend time in their classrooms shaping and decorating their own individual dragon loaves, each one as unique as the child who made it. Together, they also contribute their pieces to create a much larger community dragon—a beautiful reminder that courage is something we can cultivate both within ourselves and within our community.

Then, on Friday, our whole community gathers for St. George and the Dragon, a beloved play presented by children from every grade. And when the story comes to an end, the children step beyond the story and into their own Feats of Courage—challenging themselves physically, creatively, and wholeheartedly.

It is a day filled with dragons and bread, stories and songs, laughter and challenge. But beneath it all is something much deeper:

Bravery to face what is difficult.
Courage to step beyond what is comfortable.
Hope to carry a light into the darker days ahead.

May we all carry a little of that Michaelmas courage with us. ❤️‍🔥🍂🐉

📚🍂 Support a Love of Reading | Willow Tree Read-a-Thon 🍂📚

This September, we’re inviting our students to step away from screens and step into the pages of a good book! ✨

September is Screen-Free September at Willow Tree—a beautiful opportunity to slow down, reconnect, and make more room for imagination, creativity, outdoor play, and meaningful time together.

And what better way to fill that space than with books, stories, and adventure?🌿📖

From September 1st–30th, our students will embark on a month-long Read-a-Thon, and we’re inviting our friends and family to join them on their journey!

📚 How it works:
Students read the books they love, and every minute counts! Families can invite friends and loved ones to sponsor their reading with either a pledge per minute read or a flat donation.

🌱 Your support helps grow:

Classroom Funds — providing resources and enriching experiences for our students, from art supplies to nature explorations and beyond.

💜 Dream Fund for the Lilac Property — helping Willow Tree save toward a permanent campus where our community can continue to grow, learn, and thrive for generations to come.

This month is about so much more than minutes on a reading log. It’s about creating space for wonder. Space to imagine. Space to wonder. Space to discover new worlds between the pages of a book.

Every page turned is an adventure. Every minute read helps build bright minds and a strong future.

Family Work Day 🌿

Family Work Day is such a meaningful part of the beginning of our educational journey together. Just five days before the academic year begins, we gather as a community to roll up our sleeves, lend a hand, and put our collective effort toward preparing and beautifying our campus.

From washing windows and raking mulch to organizing tree stumps, weeding garden beds, sanding picnic tables, painting friendship benches, organizing the recess shed, ironing silks, sorting pencil rolls and labeling cubbies, there are so many little details that go into preparing our center for a new year. And as the saying goes, many hands make light work!

More than the work itself, we love what Family Work Day represents. Our children get to see that their campus is something we all care for together—that we each have a part to play in creating the beautiful, welcoming space where they will learn, grow, and build community.

We are so grateful to all of the families who were able to come out and contribute their time, energy, and helping hands. ❤️

And now… we have just one more sleep before we begin! The classrooms are ready, the campus is shining, and our hearts are full of anticipation.

We can’t wait to see all of your smiling faces on Monday! 🌿✨

The halls are beginning to come alive again as our staff gathers to prepare for another beautiful school year.

Before the children fill our classrooms with laughter, questions, creativity, and wonder, there is a season of preparation; of planning, dreaming, learning, organizing, and coming together as a team.

We are so grateful for the thoughtful, dedicated educators who pour so much heart into creating a place where children can feel known, supported, and inspired to grow.

A new year is on the horizon, and we can’t wait to welcome our students back to Willow Tree. 🌿

🌿Sixth Grade at Willow Tree 🌿
A small class. A meaningful difference.

Sixth grade is a remarkable threshold.

Children are beginning to see the world with new eyes; becoming more independent, asking deeper questions, developing their own ideas, and discovering who they are within a larger community.

At Willow Tree, we believe this stage deserves more than simply preparing students for the next grade.

It deserves time, attention, connection, and space to grow.

Our small class size allows teachers to truly know each student; not just academically, but as a whole person. There is room for questions, conversation, collaboration, creativity, and the occasional moment of uncertainty that comes with growing up.

In our Waldorf-inspired approach, sixth grade brings a beautiful balance of wonder and structure, imagination and reason, independence and belonging.

Students are encouraged to think critically while continuing to engage with the world through art, movement, hands-on experiences, and meaningful academic work.

🌱 More space to ask questions and find your voice.
