Awesome weekend of coaching and enjoying the local community!
hosted La Copa Chula Vista Omnium with a road race in memory of on Saturday and the Elite Athlete Training Center crit on Sunday. I was able to be out to watch my friends and coaching client athletes race, and it was so much fun being around the scene!
The incomparable won both the road race and the criterium to sweep the Omnium. He lives on that top step, man.
made big moves in his first 2/3 races this weekend. As he adjusts to the new level of competition, big things are on the way for him, too!
Elsewhere, rising stud junior triathlete took the Cheaha Challenge TT Junior title! Big things coming for Avery this season… took 2nd overall in his first sprint tri of the season in Georgia a few weeks ago. Be on the lookout for him… he’s coming.
In Germany, ultraMTBer turned TTer Chris put in three strong back to back to back TT efforts and landed on the Saturday podium with a strong 2nd place finish at the Kiessestrabe Tettnang TT. Turned around Sunday and landed 4th in Elkofen TT/road race one-day omnium. He’s figuring it out, the watts are coming, and this dude is going to be ripping off blistering times all summer long.
Had a lot of fun watching my friends race on Saturday, of placed 4th in his Omnium… in spite of all my trash talk over the years, the dude is starting to light it up. Fun seeing the .velox boys doing their thing as well as all my old teammates and rivals out there. Awesome day at the races!

It’s been a good couple of weeks over here at Rocket Multisport for our local bike racers!
Jesse Moniz with two top 10 finishes at Barrio Logan and a 2nd place 🥈 at last night’s series Crit. He’s got his points for Cat 3… upgrade coming soon!
Austin Pangcog caught 3rd 🥉 at Barrio Logan, and added another top 10 there as well. He’s scored 17 upgrade points since April. Such tremendous progress from him this season.
Juan Munoz continues to just win, baby, sweeping the CA State senior games two road races and two TTs. He’s made his perceived sustained power weakness into a strength which makes him awfully tough to beat. He adds these titles to TWO Masters 70+ State Championships this season on the road.
continues to impress in his comeback from a mid-season injury. He’s racking up consistent top 10 finishes, culminating in 5th at Eldo last night. While the season hasn’t gone exactly as he wanted, he’s improved so much, and is primed for a strong finish.
All three of these guys -Jesse, Ricky, and Austin - have come such a long way in the past two seasons. They’ve gone from just trying to hang on, to competing to win, even dictating races to their strengths every time out. They’re all ready for Cat 3 next season, and I’m excited to see where they go from here!!
Congratulations to all four of you guys! Very proud coach here!

Strong weekend at Barry Wolfe! Featuring standing on a box for the first time, along with another 4th place finish in 45+ racer fields in two races. Big results for a dude that has worked so hard the last two years and is seeing it all come together.
And the incomparable Juan Munoz won the 70+ SCNCA criterium championship. He is a marked man in those races - people look for him at the end - and it doesn’t matter. He can be totally overwhelming late race with years of experience and a fierce sprint. Congratulations again, Juan!
Love that both guys are humble on the podium, celebrating with their competition. No flexing biceps or flashy BS. Just getting it done with class.

Race smart; race strong. Got the W. Congratulations Juan Munoz on your win, 2nd overall 65+ racer and top 70+ at Julius Kim Cunanan Memorial Road Race. Juan stayed within himself through the final climb and unloaded a wicked sprint for the field win.
