Motivation Monday: "Whatever the mind believes, it can achieve!"

Hey Leaders,

Coming off the incredible energy of Live2Lead Middle Georgia 2025, we’re reminded that our greatest limitations often start in
the mind.

The human mind is incredibly powerful. It is the birthplace of vision, creativity, and perseverance. However, it is also where our greatest battles take place — in the quiet, internal voices that whisper:

“You’re not ready.”

“That’s too hard.”

“You’re not enough.”

These limiting beliefs act like invisible walls that block our potential. But when we choose to challenge them, we unlock the truth that whatever the mind believes, it can achieve.

Your thoughts shape your actions, and your actions create your results. When you believe in your capacity to grow, to lead, and to overcome, you open the door to unlimited possibility.

🎥 Watch today’s video as we reflect on how to break through limiting beliefs and move toward the next level of growth.

What belief are you ready to let go of this week? Share your answers in the comments, and let’s continue learning and growing
together!

Book Feature Friday: Fans First by Jesse Cole Session Summary

Hey Leaders,

Over the past several weeks we covered Book Feature Friday sessions, and explored powerful leadership lessons from Jesse Cole’s Fans First—a book that challenges leaders to rethink how they serve people, build culture, create memorable experiences, and make a lasting impact.

Throughout our Book Feature Friday sessions, we explored powerful leadership lessons from Jesse Cole’s Fans First and what it means to create an organization that truly puts people first.

Our conversations highlighted the importance of:

⭐ Standing out and challenging the status quo
🤝 Building an intentional, people-first culture
🎉 Creating experiences that turn customers into fans
💡 Having the courage to innovate and learn from failure
❤️ Leading through service and consistency
🌎 Building a leadership legacy that positively impacts others

The biggest takeaway? Great leadership is about more than results—it’s about creating experiences, developing people, and leaving others better because you led them.

Better People. Better World.

Wisdom Wednesday: "What People Misunderstand About Success" (Part 2) - Maxwell Leadership Podcast Episode

Hey Leaders,

This week on the Maxwell Leadership Podcast, find out what an ice cube can teach you about patience and results. Today, John Maxwell finishes up his two-part lesson on the compounding power of daily action, reflection, and intentional growth on the path to lasting leadership success.

After his lesson, Mark Cole and Chris Goede dive into real-world strategies and personal stories to help you immediately implement John’s teaching.

Key takeaways:

Your first step is your most important step.

Success is a series of steps, not one giant leap.

If you can’t get happy where you are, you can’t get happy where you’re going.

TED Talk Tuesday: “The Happy Secret to Better Work” - Shawn Achor

Hey Leaders,

What if we have the formula for success and happiness backwards?

Many of us have been taught to believe that if we work harder, we will become more successful, and once we become successful, we will finally be happy. But in this insightful TED Talk, positive psychology researcher Shawn Achor challenges that thinking.

His research suggests that happiness does not simply follow success. A positive brain can actually help produce it.

Achor calls this the "happiness advantage." When our brains operate from a more positive state, we become more productive, creative, energetic, and capable of responding to challenges effectively.

That has an important application for leadership.

Leaders often focus heavily on results, goals, deadlines, and performance. Those things matter. But if we continually move the goalpost of success, we can create environments where people believe happiness and fulfillment are always waiting somewhere beyond the next achievement.

Effective leadership requires a different approach.

We can create cultures where people are challenged to perform while also being encouraged to recognize progress, practice gratitude, strengthen relationships, and approach difficulties with optimism and resilience.

Achor offers several simple practices for training our brains to recognize the positive:

Write down three new things you are grateful for each day.
Journal about a positive experience.
Exercise regularly.
Practice meditation and focused attention.
Perform intentional acts of kindness, such as thanking or encouraging someone.

These practices may seem small, but repeated consistently, they can help change what our minds look for and how we respond to the world around us.

You can watch the full TED Talk here: https://www.ted.com/talks/shawn_achor_the_happy_secret_to_better_work

This week, consider the environment you are creating for yourself and the people you lead. Are you constantly moving the finish line, or are you also creating space to recognize progress, express gratitude, and celebrate what is going well?

Success does not have to be the prerequisite for happiness. When we cultivate positivity in the present, we put ourselves and those around us in a stronger position to learn, grow, perform, and lead well.

Remember, Better People, Better World.

We believe we should work hard in order to be happy, but could we be thinking about things backwards? In this fast-moving and very funny talk, psychologist Shawn Achor argues that, actually, happiness inspires us to be more productive.

Good Monday Leaders,

Have you ever thought about the quiet weight of “I wish I had…”?

I wish I would’ve put in just a little more effort.

I wish I had stayed in touch with that friend, even just to talk about nothing.

The greatest tragedy isn’t failure—it’s the dreams, ideas, and gifts that never make it into the world. They remain unspoken, buried alongside those who never gave themselves permission to bring them to life.

This week, let’s flip the script. Instead of “I wish I had,” let’s commit to “I’m glad I did.”

👉 Put in the extra effort.
👉 Reach out to the people who matter.
👉 Share the gift only you can bring.

💡 Your challenge this week: Take one step toward
something you’ve been putting off—whether it’s a project, a phone call, or a small act of courage.

🎥 Watch today’s "No Regrets" video inside the community, and let it remind you: the world doesn’t need your perfection, it needs your presence and your gifts.

What’s ONE thing you’ll do this week to live with no regrets?

Drop it in the comments ⬇️

Book Feature Friday – Week 12 - "Creating a Legacy" - Fans First by Jesse Cole

Hello Leaders,

As we conclude our journey through Fans First, we arrive at the ultimate leadership question:

What kind of legacy are you creating?

Jesse Cole's story is not ultimately about baseball.

It is about impact.
It is about building something that improves the lives of others.
Every leader leaves a legacy.

The question is whether that legacy is intentional.

The greatest leaders are remembered not for titles, profits, or accomplishments.

They are remembered for the people they influenced.

The lives they changed.

The opportunities they created.

The culture they built.

The encouragement they gave.

The example they set.

When leaders focus on people, their impact extends far beyond their organization.

That is the essence of a Fans First mindset.

Leadership Challenge
Write down the legacy you want your leadership to leave behind.

Then identify one action you can take this week to move toward that vision.

Final Reflection Question
After reading Fans First, what leadership lesson impacted you most, and how will you apply it moving forward?

As we close this series, remember:
Leadership is not measured by how many people work for you.

Leadership is measured by how many people are better because of you.

That is why at Axis Leadership we believe:

Better People, Better World.

Thinkers Thursday: "Becoming The Boss" - Harvard Business Review Article

Hey Leaders,

The role of today’s leader is changing.

Today's Thinkers Thursday Harvard Business Review suggests that the most effective leaders act less like bosses and more like coaches—asking better questions, developing talent, and creating space for growth.

Coaching leadership isn’t about lowering standards—it’s about raising people.

This is how leaders multiply their impact. Better People. Better World.

Today I had the opportunity to attend the "UGA Grand Farm Field Day in Perry", where innovators and vendors from across the country—and even internationally—came together to showcase the latest technologies advancing precision agriculture.

We saw demonstrations of "automated sprayers, robotic weed-pulling technology, drones, and other emerging solutions" designed to make agriculture more efficient, productive, and sustainable.

Even more exciting, Perry’s Grand Farm has been designated as a National Proving Ground, making it one of just two locations in the Grand Farm ecosystem where precision agriculture technologies will be tested and validated before being deployed in the field.

This is another great example of Middle Georgia’s growing role in innovation, technology, and workforce development. The future of agriculture is being tested right here in our region! Enjoy the pictures! I know you can't post them all but I couldn't decide which ones not to send. This was such a fantastic event!

🎤 LIVE2LEAD MIDDLE GEORGIA: ELEVATE YOUR IMPACT
🌟 BROADCAST SPEAKER SPOTLIGHT: KATHRYN McLAY

What happens when life takes you somewhere bigger than the plan you originally made?

Kathryn McLay offers a powerful reminder:

“It has been an amazing ride, far better than the little plans that I had. I could not have strategized my way into the life that I have lived. All I could control was effort and attitude.”

That is leadership worth thinking about.

Kathryn McLay, former President & CEO of Walmart International and Sam’s Club, has led at an extraordinary scale—but the wisdom behind her success is surprisingly simple: you cannot control every outcome, but you can control how you show up.

✅ You can control your effort.
✅ You can control your attitude.
✅ You can stay open to opportunities you never planned for.
✅ You can keep growing when the path looks different than expected.
✅ And you can choose to lead with purpose wherever the journey takes you.

Great leaders certainly plan—but they also understand that leadership requires the courage to adapt.

Sometimes the opportunity in front of you will be greater than the plan you created for yourself.

The question is: Will you be ready for it?

Join us for LIVE2LEAD Middle Georgia: Elevate Your Impact and hear from Kathryn McLay and an incredible lineup of world-class leadership voices as we explore practical ideas that can strengthen the way you lead, communicate, influence, and serve others.

This isn’t just about becoming a better leader.

It’s about becoming the kind of person who is prepared to make a greater impact when opportunity arrives.

Because at Axis Leadership, we believe:

🌎 Better People. Better World.

🔥 ELEVATE YOUR IMPACT.
🎟️ Don’t miss this powerful leadership experience.
