Exploring Emotions Through Art and Mirrors
Today we explored emotions, facial expressions, and self awareness through a fun hands on activity. The children used mirrors to look at their own faces and practiced making different expressions while talking about emotions such as happy, sad, surprised, silly, and excited.
The children were then given a variety of materials including buttons, yarn, pipe cleaners, shredded paper, and other craft supplies to create their own faces. They had the opportunity to use their imagination and creativity while thinking about how different emotions can look.
This activity helped the children identify and name emotions, recognize facial expressions, develop self awareness, strengthen fine motor skills, and practice expressing their feelings.
I loved watching each child create their own unique face and seeing their personalities shine through their creations!
