Last week the Darrin Freshwater Institute had its 2026 staff Olympics!

All throughout the week, staff and summer research assistants participated in many challenges. Some were funny like dress like a coworker, some were hard like the pull up and push up challenge.

This year’s challenges were incredibly fun and had some hard competition!

It’s always great to spend a day out in the field!

Our Research Assistants funded by the Froehlich Foundation working hard, taking samples, sifting through sediment, and cleaning the boat.

After all that hard work they hunker down in the lab for the rest of the shift to find zooplankton!

Behind the scenes at the Darrin Freshwater Institute: research funded by the Froehlich Foundation, exploring the invasive species on Lake George.

Specifically, we looked at Zebra Mussels and the important research behind protecting and managing our lakes and waterways. More to come!

Recently at Darrin Freshwater Institute!

We have been incredibly busy with school visitors, going out to the local farmers market each week, assisting in research projects, and even monitoring invasive species in the lake (video coming soon)!

We are so excited to share with you all the work we are doing here this summer.
