Have Questions About the 2026 School Bond? Let's Talk Tomorrow Night!

Join Brunswick County Schools tomorrow, Wednesday, October 14, at 6 p.m. at North Brunswick High School for a community conversation about the proposed $349.6 million school bond referendum on the November 3 ballot.

What projects are being proposed? Why are new schools needed? How would the bond be financed, and what could it mean for taxpayers?

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Paschal will walk through these questions and more, providing information about the proposed projects, continued student growth and facility needs across Brunswick County Schools.

With more than 100 classrooms added since the 2016 school bond and elementary schools already operating at 93% capacity, planning for future growth remains an important conversation for our community.

🍎 National Principals Month: Celebrating Virginia Williamson Elementary School!

Today, we’re shining our Principal Highlight on Virginia Williamson Elementary Principal Joshua Futrell and Assistant Principal Allison Wilkins!

At Virginia Williamson, strong leadership helps create a school culture centered on relationships, growth and helping students reach their full potential. Mr. Futrell and Ms. Wilkins work each day to support teachers, encourage students and keep the focus on learning and success.

Their leadership is reflected in the continued academic progress happening across the school and in the positive environment they help create for students and staff.

Let's Talk About the Bond at North Brunswick High School!

On Wednesday, October 14, Brunswick County Schools will host a community conversation at North Brunswick High School to provide information about the proposed $349.6 million school bond referendum appearing on the November 3 ballot.

The proposed bond would address continued student growth and facility needs across the district. Projects include the construction of a new elementary school and high school, safety and security improvements, and facility upgrades.

Since the 2016 school bond, Brunswick County Schools has added more than 100 classrooms to help keep pace with growth. Despite these additions, elementary schools are currently operating at 93% capacity, and enrollment projections indicate the need for additional classroom space in the years ahead.

🍎 National Principals Month: Celebrating Shallotte Middle School! 🏴‍☠️

Today, we’re shining our Principal Highlight on Shallotte Middle School Principal Rebecca Heitz and Assistant Principals Phillip Warwick and Katie Watson!

Shallotte Middle has plenty to celebrate following the 2025–26 school year. The school increased its School Performance score by four points, continuing positive academic momentum for its students.

Those gains reflect hardworking students, dedicated teachers and a leadership team committed to strong instruction, high expectations and creating a school where students are supported and encouraged to succeed.

Ms. Heitz, Mr. Warwick and Ms. Watson, thank you for the leadership, encouragement and commitment you bring to Shallotte Middle each day. We’re proud to celebrate you and the entire Pirate community during National Principals Month!
