Calling All Retired Teachers!

We would love to welcome a few retired teachers into The Rooted Schoolhouse to help with our small reading groups!

We are looking for individuals willing to give just one hour a week, Monday through Thursday. You would work with the same small group of students each week, giving you the opportunity to build relationships, encourage their confidence, and watch their reading skills grow throughout the year.

If you miss working with children but aren’t looking for a big time commitment, we would love to have you share your experience with our schoolhouse kids!

Just a bell, rung by hand, and a room full of kids who know exactly what it means. Small things like this are not decoration here. They are the whole idea.

The shortest commute in education.

Out of the truck, across the grass, through that door. No hallways to get lost in, no wing to find, no map on the wall.

Filmed mid-build, which is why there is a cargo trailer in the yard and a paint bucket by the step. It looks considerably better now.

The Schoolhouse is coming together!
We still have a lot of work to do before we welcome our families this coming week, but seeing everything start to come together is so exciting!
We are incredibly thankful for everyone who has helped, supported, encouraged, and worked alongside us to make The Rooted Schoolhouse a reality. We truly couldn’t have done it without you!
We can’t wait to fill this little schoolhouse with learning, laughter, and lots of memories.

Did you know the farm can make its way into the classroom in some pretty unexpected ways?

Corn can be used to make INK!

Corn and ingredients made from corn can be found in everyday products like ink, glue, paint, and even some plastics.

So the next time you see ink on a school paper, remember... learning and agriculture have more in common than you might think!

At The Rooted Schoolhouse, we love showing our students that agriculture is all around us, sometimes in places we would never expect!

This building is temporary — the permanent schoolhouse is still ahead of us — but it’s where the first lessons happen, the first friendships start, and the first chore charts go up on the wall.

🐑 Calling all experienced sheep people!

We’re going to attempt shearing our sheep tomorrow morning, and we would LOVE to have someone with a little more experience help guide us!

If you have experience shearing sheep and would be willing to come lend a hand, show us the ropes, or even just offer some helpful advice, please reach out!

We’re ready to learn... and the sheep are ready for a haircut! 😂

We’ve had so many people reach out asking, “What do you still need?” and we are incredibly thankful.
