A women's best chance to defend herself against a stronger male offender is first and foremost be armed with the real world idea that YOU must be or become comfortable with extreme violence, because someone is going to visit that same extreme violence upon you. You don't have to like it, just accept this as a real possibility that you do not get to choose the time and the place. First there have been many studies indicating more than 50% of society would rather lose their life than their eye site. That would go high on my target list, so practice and visualize eye scratching and gauging. When you train, train in an environment that is as close to real as you can find environmentally, low light, isolated, in houses, parking lots, club back of house hallways and bathrooms. It doesn't matter how you get end up in those situation, everyone makes mistakes normally starting with trusting someone you really don't know. This is also supposing you are alone and not with friends. I teach a crash position involving a defensive frame which allows you to ride out some initial rushes, pushes and punches. It is important you maintain a forward balanced position even when under stress and moving backwards. From a frame or modified peek a boo crash position your elbows will shield you jaw. Also don't close you eyes and keep you hips lower than your attacker. One of my first defensive moments would be to scratch or jam your fingers into their eyes. Also go after the groin. I see a lot of instructors using knees, but you will have better luck by hitting and grabbing with your hands and don't let go. This will also cause them to pike their hips making their weight go back on their heels and exposing the face and eyes. If you must, bite. Remember you are fighting for your life. They say humans have intuition and animals have instinct, under extreme stress you animal instincts should kick in. It is also good to spit or throw anything you have directly at their eyes and don't slow down. Make noise scream and let the emotions, fear and adrenaline flow with your defense. Never hold your breath and don't think because you will freeze and become week. Use your energy when it hits. This is controlled through practice and breathing. Be strong and sure. I can break out specific techniques and training regimes, but I think this information is critical to a good start. Train with someone who has tasted the sting of hand to hand combat or a street fight. Keeping your training real and honest are the key. Remember to keep you environment as rel as possible. Dress for the occasion. I hope this helps as a base line for understanding the violent nature. Also this is when all else fails, awareness, you have no weapons and are basically defenseless and left with the tools and mind God gave you. This is a great question and I don't want to water the truth down. Keep it real D.
