Well, things weren’t okay but it is the end of this first experimental season.
The boys, unfortunately, had perhaps their least cohesive game of the season. Thus, it becomes the season ender for the record of 12-8. Mistakes were made all over the place. In the field, at the plate, on the bases, in the scorekeeper’s area,… probably many others. The exuberance following Sunday’s victory, made this one feel that much worse.
The season bugaboo of striking out in double digits continued. Whereas, in many of the previous games, the strikeouts were the caught looking variety, Wednesday’s game featured some of those and a minimum of four times swinging at pitches shoulder or higher. Arrrgh!
BRCR amassed enough Ks to spell the Buffalo Sabres goalie’s name and then some. But they only had two hits, earned just two walks, they did get some help from three Lion errors, but that wasn’t enough to keep them in the game. They only sent 22 batters to the plate to cover their 6 team at bats. By way of comparison, Wellsville sent 38 to face three hard luck pitchers, quite possibly affected by the thin air at the top of the really high mound.
From the jump there seemed to be something missing, and it only got more obvious as the game wore on. Big deficits will do that.
I suppose I should mention that the boys fell out of the playoffs, being “ten runned” in the sixth, 11-1, to the homestanding Wellsville Lions. Only six of the Lions runs were earned, so the errors made by BRCR were doozies! The Lions were held scoreless in just one inning as they blew the doors off the place in the 4th, 5th, and 6th. It’s not okay, but it Is the end.
Oh well off to the play by play- ish.
First inning, on a one out ground ball Carson Schunk got to first on an infield error. The ball thrown away by the Lions. The ball didn’t get far enough away, or we’ll credit the Lions for some very good back up baseball fundamentals, as they were able to take Schunk off the bases almost immediately after putting him on.
Two walks to start the home half. A bunt attempt was popped up with Braxton Clark diving off the mound to snare the ball, turning and throwing to Luke Haskins at first for the double up. For some unknown reason there was some sort of controversy on the play as 99.9% of the people in the park saw it one way but one of the “important people” didn’t? However, clearer heads prevailed, two down, man on third, maybe we can hold them to a 0? That would be wishful thinking. Back-to-back singles scored the run and had the Lions still prowling the bases before a grounder to Haskins, flip to Clark covering, 1-0 home team.
Ryder Iantorno singled to left to maybe begin a rally. An erroneous pick-off attempt at first allowed advancement to second for Ryder. A wild pitch moved him to third. From there he went nowhere, as he got picked off the base. Dang.
The Lions put a pair up in their second. A walk, single and double plated one. An infield grounder with a whisper of hesitation allowed a second runner to score. The out made Mason Baldwin to Haskins. A Clark strikeout and a fly ball to Connor Margeson in right ended the frame.
Kingston Loucks getting hit by a pitch was the “offense” for BRCR in the third.
The lone quick inning for the Lions in their third. Fly ball to Margeson. A driving double to center put a man on. Next batter flew out to Loucks. On the play, the runner clearly left early on the tag up, but again 99.9% versus the other .1% and the .1% prevailed. Yeesh! Final out was a fly ball to Loucks.
BRCR got their run in the fourth. One out walks to Baldwin and Iantorno put two aboard. A fielder’s choice removed Baldwin at third. Margeson singled to left to drive in Iantorno, 3-1 and faint signs of life!

Well, it’s not okay… The Lions had their biggest inning in the fourth. Plating 4 to really put a bad feeling over the proceedings, well from our standpoint. The defense was a flyball to Margeson, and two strikeouts by Chase Haas now on the mound.

From there it was pretty much a done deal. BRCR in order in the fifth. Two more for the Lions in their half to stretch it to 9-1. A fly ball to Loucks was one out. A bases loaded infield fly rule to Haskins was two gone and finally a fly out to Margeson.
Again, BRCR did not do well in the top of the sixth, going down in order.
The only out recorded by the defense in the bottom of the sixth was a fly ball to Margeson, he was busy and good out there. The bases loaded ill advised throw allowed runs 10 and 11 to breeze in. That’s the season.
Iantorno and Margeson collected the hits, Connor driving in Ryder for the run.
For now, we say goodbye to Kingston Loucks, Landon Hendryx, and RJ Osgood all having played their last int he various color schemes this new arrangement has brought. We thank the trio and wish them all the best in the future.

As I wrote last year, a reminder that Father’s Day is coming soon(ish). It’s actually kind of late this year, on the 21st so that would be well after the season, but remember, if you are still able to, spend some time with dad, like maybe you did for mom a few weeks ago.

It’s been awhile since I ripped off lyrics so blatantly, but this one seemed like a fitting set of words for the goings on near the Marvin Sands (see what I did there!) Amphitheater on Sunday afternoon. Also known as CMAC, the game was played right up the hill from the concert venue on the campus of Finger Lakes Community College.
No, we didn’t have a beach either, but this collection of boys have had a season of ups and downs to give them many memories for years to come. Metaphorically, there were some fireworks, and led by the pregame songster, there was singing.
Okay enough of that.
BRCR (and Parker Jordan, always forgetting about that part of the equation) finished off the #3 seeded Marcus Whitman Wildcats on Sunday in convincing fashion, 13-5. The game had started Saturday morning somewhat surprisingly given the weather predictions all week, that pretty much were spot on. In the first part, BRCR went up 4-3 after two and a half innings and about twenty bags of Diamond Dry used at the Gorham baseball field. Realizing the futility of challenging Mother Nature the game was suspended there, to be completed Sunday afternoon at the venue mentioned above. So, though it seemed to me that we traveled all day Saturday, we had to take a u-turn Sunday to finish it off.
I think it might be safe to say that much of Saturday’s play was affected by the conditions, otherwise things may have been slightly different? Many of the total ten errors were committed in the early going. As well, both starting pitchers would not be available to go on Sunday due to pitch count limitations.
Okay here goes.
Braxton Clark led off for the visitors with a walk. He quickly stole second. Carson Schunk reached on an infield error by MW, getting to second while Clark scored. Mason Baldwin followed the same script. Reaching on error while Schunk came all the way around to score, despite his slide being started just a couple of feet shorter than probably was planned. Baldwin would also steal second. He moved up on a right side groundout. He would later score on a wild pitch. BRCR 3-0.
A lead off error put one on for the home side. A wild pitch moved the runner along. A groundout to Luke Haskins at first moved the runner to third. The wet conditions led to control issues for the BRCR hurler with two straight walks to load the bags. After a strikeout things looked to maybe be going good. But a single to left plated two, the throw coming into home from Jimmy Day the runner from first thought he might have had a chance for third, but he found himself in a pickle, eventually being the third out. I think on the play the scoring would be, 7-2-5-6-4. Which means: Day to Ryder Iantorno to Baldwin to Chase Haas to Schunk. Maybe I missed a participant in that one, but 3-2, BRCR.
Haas led off the second reaching on an error. He stole second. He tagged and advanced on Kingston Loucks’s fly to right center. Clark got on by error allowing Haas to score, 4-2, BRCR.
The home boys squeezed another across in their half of the second. A single to the hole at short led to the run. Two straight Ks by Clark and it looked as if there would be no sweat.
But a single to left put men at the corners. The runner at first stole second. Another single to left scored the first runner, but the second one was out on a fine throw from Day to Iantorno to end the rally. 4-3.
Two out singles by Connor Margeson and Day were almost cashed in when Haas blistered a ball to left. I still am not sure how the kid tracked it down and then made the catch falling and tumbling on the outfield hill for out three. But that Is how the action would close for Saturday.
Coming to FLCC there is one thing very noticeable, there are no outfield fences so to speak.
Set in the traditional scheme of old timey ball parks like Forbes Field, Schibe Park, and Columbia Park all with center field dimensions of well over 400 or even 500 feet there is the ball yard at FLCC with no signage to indicate how far back the center field fence might be. But it is BACK THERE.
Coming back from the 27 hour rain delay, MW would be batting first. Baldwin took over on the mound for BRCR. Very quick work was made of the home side. Two Ks and a pop out foul to Clark now behind the plate were the outs.
Loucks ripped a triple to one of those aforementioned gaps in the outfield. That their centerfielder was able to track it down and hold King to three deserves a tip of the cap to him, Two Ks and a groundout and Kingston was still on third at the end of the inning. Yikes!
BRCR just missed getting a conventional double play in the bottom of the fourth, but did end the frame on a not your text book DP to energize the team and at least half the crowd.
The dreaded lead off walk started the bottom of the fourth. A ground ball looked to be textbook 5-4-3 DP but the field ump ruled no out at first. So, the out made Iantorno to Schunk for the lead runner. The next batter, with the runner going, flew out to Loucks in center. He made the catch and threw a dart to Haskins at first to double off the runner on the 8-3 double play.
BRCR’s fifth was nothing to write about so here it is:

The bottom of the fifth saw the Wildcats tie it up. A tough chance on the infield side put one on. A bad pickoff attempt allowed the runner to get to third. Groundball, Schunk to Haskins was one out but the run scored. Liner to Schunk at second was two and popper to Baldwin in the middle of the infield was all three. 4-4.
BRCR put up a really crooked number in the top of the sixth. An error in the outfield let Haas get to second. Loucks ripped another ball to the outfield, you could “almost” see what the fielder said as he realized he misjudged the ball to the left field corner, (and it wasn’t a word I care to share here!). Haas scored, Loucks on third. A wild pitch brought in King. Clark walked, stole second and got to third on a wild pitch. Schunk singled and beat the throw to first, Clark crossing the plate. Schunk stole second and continued on to third when the throw went into center. Baldwin lifted a ball to the outfield for the Sac Fly.
Iantorno walked, then stole second. He would score on a hit to right. A couple of walks loaded the bags, but a couple of Ks ended the inning, but the damage was done, BRCR 9-4.
A Baldwin K started the bottom of the sixth. A single up the middle put a man on. He moved up on a wild pitch. During the next sequence of pitches, the runner at second was napping and a pea from Clark to Haas erased the runner. Schunk to Haskins for the final out.
BRCR put a four spot up to all but finish the contest.
Clark singled. Baldwin walked one out later. Clark would steal third. Iantorno hit a ball to left to score Clark and Baldwin. Haskins dropped one into the short outfield.
Margeson went the opposite way with a drive down the left field line. Scoring both in front of him. Margeson was thrown out at third on the play. 13-4.

Marcus Whitman scratched out one in the bottom but the hole was too deep for them to dig their way out.
Hoping to further their memories of the season, the boys will have a much shorter trip for the next round of playoffs as they go over the summit to face the #4 Wellsville Lions. That game is scheduled to go on Wednesday the 27th at 5 pm. Talk is the Section wants their slice of the pie, so there will be an admission fee. Details on that to come.
Quick pitching line, Clark went two on Saturday with three Ks and 1 earned run. Baldwin went 5 on Sunday four Ks and also 1 earned run.

Offensive stats:
Clark a hit, RBI and three runs.
Schunk a hit, RBI and two runs.
Baldwin two runs and an RBI.
Iantorno two RBIs a hit and two scored.
Haskins two hits, an RBI and a run.
Margeson two hits, one a double and an RBI.
Day had a hit.
Haas scored two.
Loucks two triple, an RBI and a run scored, as well as a fine defensive play on the double play in the fourth.

Monday is Memorial Day, a day to remember and mourn the fallen who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. If you have such a member of your family, thank you for their service and your sacrifices. We are grateful beyond words for their sacrifices.

Well we got through two and a half Saturday morning before the heavy stuff came down. The game will be finished Sunday at 4 in Finger Lakes Community College.

Playoffs Start:
Saturday 11 am at Marcus Whitman. Situated east of Canandaigua. Google Maps calling for about an hour forty to get there from BR.
The field is at the Gorham Elementary School in Gorham, NY.

Before we veer off into the usual post-game recall, a couple of things I came across that seem to maybe be important. Two weeks ago to the day (May 4th), the little-known International Firefighters Day was on the calendar. On August 18, in the United States, we commemorate National Volunteer Firefighters Day and finally on October 28 there will be First Responders Day. I mention these because like Veterans, Mothers, Fathers, Nurses and several other collections of people, we should find the time to thank these people regularly, rather than just on their “specified day”. So, for all the firefighters, both volunteer and professional, as well as other first responders, thank you.
So, on to the regular season finale for the BRCR baseball nine. We went from winter to summer in the space of a few days, but that is life in Western New York. On a balmy evening in Cuba, the BRCR team rallied to upend the Allegany-Limestone Gators 7-4. The boys did have to come back from a deficit to capture this one.
Two BRCR twirlers held the Gators to one hit. A pair of errors and a snowman of walks helped the Gators stay with our boys. Chase Haas got the start, went three with three Ks. Braxton Clark pitched the final four innings with 7 punchouts.
The Gators went in order in the first going down on 12 pitches. The leadoff man must have sensed or saw something as he tried to bunt his way on. Haas played his position well, bouncing off the mound with the scoop and the toss to Luke Haskins at first for the put away. In a strange quirk, out two came off the bat of a Margeson who flew out to Connor Margeson. The final out was the first of Chase’s Ks.
BRCR didn’t fare much better in their half, not cashing Carson Schunk‘s walk, though he did go from first to third on a ground out.
Top of two started with Mason Baldwin to Haskins for out one. Another K from Haas and a fly out to Margeson in right.
BRCR put two up in the bottom. Jimmy Day singled up the middle. Back to back walks to Haas and Margeson loaded the bags. Yet another free pass, this time to Kingston Loucks drove in the first tally. Clark sac flied to right allowing Haas to cross the plate.
The Gators came right back to tie it. A pair of one out (K #3 ) walks got them going. A popper to Day in left was two away. Their lone hit, a bit of a gapper in right center drove in both. Finally, Haskins flagged down a pop foul by first base to end the rally.
A one out single by Ryder Iantorno was BRCR’s answer. As the rules allow courtesy runners for the battery, James Gleason ran for Ryder. He stole second and advanced on a passed ball. An unfortunate bit of business followed as he was doubled off third after a liner back to the pitcher started the DP.
The always dreaded lead off walk provided A-L with the lead in the fourth. Clark’s first K was out one. A BRCR error allowed the runner to third. Strikeout two, hey maybe we get out of this. A wild pitch during strikeout three scored the runner from third, 3-2, Gators.
BRCR got right back on top. Haas ripped a double over the left fielder. Margeson was hit to put two on. After an infield fly was called for the second out, Clark drilled a triple in the same direction as Hass’s hit. Haas and Margeson came in to score. BRCR 4-3.
The visitors tied it up right away. Again, the grrrrr lead off walk. The runner stole second and got to third when the throw was not completed cleanly. Strikeout was one gone. A sac fly provided the RBI, Day on the catch. Another K ended the frame.
The home side didn’t have much to show for their 5th chance at the plate. Only a Haskins walk in the ledger.
Top of six. Ground out Baldwin at third to Haskins, fine plays on both ends for one down. Haas camping under a pop up for two gone. Clark‘s 6th K closed it out.
Big frame for the home boys in their half. Margeson singled to left, Bentley Youngs would run for him. Loucks singled to right. Clark walked, bags full. Two Ks later and it had the appearance of a lost opportunity for BRCR. Iantorno drew a walk to force in the winning run. Liam Gadley courtesy running for Ryder. Haskins hit a bit of a bender into right that was not fielded cleanly but got the job done all the same, Loucks and Gadley scoring. A walk to Day reloaded the bags, but the “REALLY BIG” inning didn’t happen, however, BRCR 7-4.
Two walks slowed the “three outs and a handshake” procedure as well as made for some slightly tense moments. But Haas to Haskins for one, K #7 was two and an “easy as Sunday morning” fly ball to Day in left closed the book.
The roundup:
Clark had one hit, a triple, he scored one and drove in three.
Iantorno had a hit and an RBI.
Day had a hit and scored once.
Haas a double and two runs scored.
Margeson a hit and a run.
Youngs scored one.
Loucks had a hit, a run, and an RBI.

Next up will be playoffs. Looks like Saturday is the day. The opponent is almost set, but I won’t put anything out there that may not be factual.
The coaches get to have a meeting up north for playoff seedings, etc. tomorrow.
We’ll get the relevant info out as soon as we can.
Finally, I believe I heard that it was Bentley’s family who provided the needed extra drinks for the players for this one. Thank you it was greatly appreciated. If it wasn’t the case, then I guess that shoots the whole not posting things that aren’t factual, deal!

The boys put another in the win column Saturday morning with the completion of the game suspended on May 5th. The final outcome was 12-2 over the Friendship Scio Tigers in five innings. BRCR had built up a 12-0 cushion, after two, last week before the game was halted due to darkness and weather in Cuba. Good thing because they seemed maybe a bit groggy this morning.
Kingston Loucks went the distance on the mound for BRCR, striking out a dozen, surrendering two hits and being tagged with both runs being unearned.
As a unit the team put together their dozen on seven hits, eight walks, two errors and ten pitching problems from the visitors.

Way back on Cinco de Mayo, the visitors had a walk in the first. Groundball Mason Baldwin to Luke Haskins was out 1. A pop up to Chase Haas at short was two. Finally, the first of King’s Ks was the end of it.

BRCR dialed it up to 11 in their half. A one out triple by Baldwin cranked it up/ Jimmy Day drew a walk. First and third, you could guess what was coming. Day broke for second, the pitcher balked, Baldwin in, Day at 2. Landon Hendryx got hit by a pitch to put two on. A wild pitch moved both runners up. Haskins walked, bags full. Another wild pitch scored Day, Hendryx to third, Haskins to second. Haas doubled to right scoring Hendryx, Haskins to third. Connor Margeson singled to right, plating both runners, Margeson deftly getting to second on the throw. Margeson moved to third on a passed ball. Loucks walked. While Bentley Youngs was working a walk, A wild pitch scored Margeson and moved Loucks up. He would then move to third on an error and score on a wild pitch. After walking, Youngs stole second and moved up on a passed ball. Carson Schunk singled to center for the RBI. He moved along on a wild pitch. Baldwin drew a walk.as did Day. Bases loaded again.
Yet another wild pitch scored Schunk, moving Baldwin to third and Day to second. Hendryx walked. Haskins drew the bases loaded walk. Haas singled to center to drive in Day. 11-0.
A double and walk were not enough to produce for the visitors as King fanned three.
In the BRCR second, Youngs reached on an error. Baldwin was hit by a pitch one out later.
Liam Gadley was hit as well to load the bases. A groundout by Hendryx brought I Youngs and finished the scoring for the home side. And also the activity for May 5th.
Returning to the field eleven days later:
A single and walk, again not enough to score for the Tigers as Loucks once again threw three Ks.
BRCR went in order in the third.
A dropped third strike put a man on in the top of the fourth. A pop up fell into shallow center. The runner had to hold a bit and was forced out at second, Schunk to Haas or 8-6 if you’re scoring at home. Two more King Ks ended the frame.
Youngs and Baldwin singled in the 4th and it looked as if BRCR could pad their lead. But…
A pair of walks and errors on the infield lead to the visitor’s two runs. BRCR did get an out on a fielder’s choice Baldwin at short to Ryder Iantorno at third. The last two Ks by King ended the game, phew, any more and we’d have had to carry on.
For the home side (only 7 total RB due to the pitching struggles, etc. by the Tigers.):
Schunk had a run, a hit, and an RBI.
Baldwin two hits, one a triple, and two runs.
Day scored twice without an official at bat.
Hendryx had a hit and an RBI.
Haskins did as well.
Haas had two hits, one a two bagger, drove in a pair and scored one.
Margeson drove in a pair with a hit and run scored.
Loucks scored one.
Youngs had a hit and scored twice.

Last game of the regular season will be Monday in Cuba against Allegany-Limestone at 5.
The weather is supposed to be FABULOUS, bring your own sunscreen.

The BRCR squad went into the final weekend of the regular season with hopes of building up their record. As Red said to his friend Andy in the Shawshank Redemption, “Hope is a dangerous thing, Andy.”
They did still have to play the games and at times it did not seem as if they were ready to play on Friday evening as they dropped a 9-8, eight-inning decision to the Andover-Whitesville Panthers in Andover. They did have to climb back after falling into a fairly deep hole in the early going.
There were several miscues on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball that contributed to this loss. There were also several big plays turned in by several of the boys.
Mason Baldwin got the team going in the first when he reached base on a two out error by AW. He would come in on Ryder Iantorno’s single.
The home side came right back. A ground rule double to center and an error by BRCR tied it up in the bottom. A Baldwin K, a ground ball Chase Haas to Luke Haskins at first and a Popout to Haas held them to one run.
Haskins walked in the top of the second. And that is about all the positive spin one could have for that frame.
Things got bad in the bottom of the second. A walk started it. A strikeout slowed the roll of the home team. A single and another walk put them in business with loaded bags.
An Infield fly rule to Haas was out two, maybe we’re living right? Walk, walk, single (misplay on a bunt attempt), pitching change, hit batter, strikeout by Jimmy Day, put five on the board for the home team.
BRCR came back with 2 in the top of the third. A walk to Kingston Loucks, Braxton Clark got plunked. Carson Schunk executed a near perfect bunt to move the runners up. An ill advised pickoff attempt by AW went out of play, giving each runner home. 6-3, them. BRCR had a chance for more following Baldwin’s double and a walk to Iantorno, and it looked for a moment like the boys might grab first place. But an unconventional double play ended things.
Three up, three down in the BRCR half of the 3rd. Strikeout from Jimmy Day on the hill for one. Comebacker to Day was two and a fly to Schunk in left was the D.
BRCR closed the gap to 1 in the top of the fourth. With two away, Connor Margeson drew a walk. Loucks then ripped a ball to center, it looked as if the kid out there had a chance. However, he tracked it down through the fabric fence in the outfield.
The Panthers answered right back with a rip of their own. A double and walk followed, but there were no more runs to be had. The score held at 7-5.
BRCR got two on after singles to Day and Haksins, but got nothing in the fifth.
After two strikeouts to start the inning, things looked promising for the BRCR bunch to have another short defensive inning. But a hit batter and walk had AW back in business. A balk and another pitching snafu. 8-5 AW.
But only for a moment. Margeson was hit by a pitch. Bentley Youngs ran for him. Loucks beat out a grounder to the hole at short. Clark followed with a three run shot to get the fans going again. A baserunning blunder muted their efforts for a moment but 8-8.
The Panthers got two aboard in their chance but two Ks, and a liner to Baldwin at second and end of inning.
BRCR couldn’t take advantage of two walks, and a “reached on an error” in the top of the seventh.
Bottom of the seventh saw a quick turnaround for BRCR. 3 up and 3 down.
Iantorno in on two groundball outs. The third out was a popup to the outfield.
Déjà vu all ready.
Top of the eighth and we have the same sequence of plays, just Haskins reaching on an error the only thing for BRCR.
A walk, some stolen bases and Sac fly ended the game.
BRCR Stats
Clark, two runs scored, two hits, one a jack, and three RBI.
Baldwin had a hit and a run.
Iantorno had two hits and an RBI

Haskins had two hits.
Day had a hit.
Margeson scored a run.
As did Youngs.

Loucks had two RBIs as a result of the 4th inning jack. He scored three times.
They have little time to flush this one as they hope to finish off the suspended game from last week. 10 o’clock Saturday morning in the B.

The boys bounced back after Monday night’s mess to secure a 9-1 win over Hinsdale, in a game played at Allegany-Limestone to try and escape weather predictions. It seemed as if maybe this one would be done quickly, but many well struck balls did indeed find the mitts of Bobcats.
Connor Margeson started on the hill for the BRCR, finished five innings, striking out 5, and being tagged with one unearned run. Mason Baldwin pitched the last two with two Ks.
Braxton Clark opened with a walk. He came in when Carson Schunk muscled one into left for a two bagger. Schunk moved up on a wild pitch. An error on a ball hit be Baldwin plated Schunk. Baldwin moved around the bags on a series of wild pitches. Ryder Iantorno kept things going by legging out a dropped third strike. Similar to Baldwin’s trip around the bases, Iantorno came around on a series of pitch miscues. BRCR 4-0.
The first K of the night from Margeson was the start of things. The second batter got aboard after an infield error. The inning ended on a nifty 4-6-3 Dp, Baldwin to Clark to Luke Haskins at first.
Only a walk to Clark was BRCR’s offense in the second.
In the home half, first out was Chase Haas from third to Haskins for one down. An infield error on a ground ball allowed a man to get aboard, though only briefly. On the play, Iantorno was doing what good catcher’s do, following the play down the line, the unsuccessful throw was retrieved by Ryder. The runner tried to stretch it to second but Ryder threw to Clark who was waiting for the runner at second. Two gone. Another error put one on, and a hit batter made things tense for a spell. A comeback, Margeson to Haskins ended the threat.
The visitors added a pair in the third. Iantorno singled to left and stretched it to two when the ball was fumbled in the outfield. An infield error off the bat of Haskins put men at the corners for BRCR. Haskins would steal second. A RBI groundout from Jimmy Day plated Iantorno and moved Haskins to third. A dropped third strike play nipped Haas at first but left Haskins enough time to score from third. 6-0.
A single and a walk gave the Bobcats two on the bases in their half. But two Margeson Ks and a Clark to Haskins groundout ended that.
BRCR closed out their scoring in the three run fourth. Kingston Loucks walked. He stole second, the throw going into centerfield. The throw back to get Loucks at third went awry, giving Kingston more than enough time to score. Clark singled up the middle. Baldwin walked an out later. During Baldwin’s at bat, Clark stole second when he should have been picked off. On the play the throw to get Clark at second was offline, Clark landing on third. Clark would score on a wild pitch. Baldwin stole second, then third. An error on the third base steal allowed Baldwin to score. 9-0.
Two Ks and a fly to Loucks in center was the bottom of the fourth.
In the fifth. Margeson hit a one out single to center. He stole second. Clark was plunked. An infield hit by Schunk loaded the bags, but BRCR couldn’t push any in to score.
The Bobcats got their run in the bottom of the fifth. After a popout to Haskins, a single and an error put two on. A ground ball out scored the run, Haskins solo on the out. Clark to Haskins was out three.
Iantorno singled to left. Haskins was hit by a pitch. Both moved up on stolen bases. But neither got home.
Baldwin on the bump to start the sixth. A K was out one. A fly ball to Schunk, now in center, making a bit of a run to track it down, two away. Grounder, Bentley Youngs at third to Haskins out three.
Landon Hendryx ripped a shot into center, the ball booted on the play. The ball getting back to the infield rather quickly, though sort of hung up Hendryx in a hotbox between second and third. A well played fly ball was out two. RJ Osgood drew a walk. But another good defensive play ended he BRCR last .
A nice falling away snare of a little liner by Baldwin was out one in the bottom of the seventh. A walk. The runner would steal second and on the play the ball skittered into center. The runner tried for third, but Schunk fired a strike to Youngs at third for the put away. Baldwin close it out with a K.

The team will play again on Friday evening in Andover, 6 o’clock start.
