What an AMAZING first day at BIS! 💙💛

There is nothing quite like having our building full of students again, and today was a pretty special way to kick off the 2026-2027 school year!

Our teachers worked incredibly hard today setting students up for success. They walked students through the building, practiced routines, explained expectations, answered questions, and took the time to make sure our kids felt comfortable and confident in their school.

And our students were AWESOME! They listened, learned, practiced, and handled a full first day like champs.

We are especially proud of our 3rd graders! A new building, new hallways, new routines, and a whole lot to learn on day one, and they did such a great job!

We also started a new BIS tradition this morning that we are really excited about. Each Monday, our entire BIS School Family will come together in the gym to start our week together!

This morning, nearly 600 students and staff gathered in one place. We said the Pledge of Allegiance and our BIS Pledge, participated in a connection activity, took a few moments to breathe and get ourselves ready for the day, and talked about our shared commitment around our behavior focus for the week.

There was something pretty powerful about looking around that gym and seeing our whole school together! Before we headed off into different classrooms, hallways, and grade levels, we started in one place, as one BIS family!

Day one is in the books, and we couldn’t have asked for a better start!

Tomorrow is the day! 💙💛

We can’t wait to welcome our students back to BIS! Meet the Teacher Night brought such an amazing energy into our building, and we’re excited to carry that same energy into the school year!

Be sure to get those first-day-of-school pictures before leaving the house!

For families dropping off in the morning, students may be dropped off at the recess doors beginning at 7:15 a.m. Students will enter through those doors and go directly to the gym. Do not use the front door for drop-off unless it is after 8:00 AM.

Pickup and drop-off procedures are listed below to help make the transition as smooth as possible for everyone. Please be patient with us during the first few days. Things may move a little slower while students, families, and staff all shake off the summer rust and settle into our routines.

Get some rest tonight. Tomorrow, we begin an incredible new year together! We can’t wait to see our BIS Liberators! 💙💛

BIS Pickup and Drop off Procedures

As we work to keep our morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up lines moving smoothly and safely, we are encouraging all families to enter our campus from D Highway.
To keep traffic flowing as efficiently as possible, please follow these simple steps for drop-off and pickup:

-Enter from D Highway: Please use D Highway as your primary entrance onto campus.
-Follow the Lane: Drive up the bus lane and turn into the main BIS lot.
-Use Both Lanes: Once you reach the building, you may use either lane to drop off or pick up your student(s).
-Exiting Campus: When leaving campus, feel free to exit onto either D Highway or Hartford Avenue.

Watch the Route in Action: Check out this quick video below showing the exact path to follow. Thank you so much for your cooperation and help in keeping our students safe and our car line moving!

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

💊 Getting Ready for the New School Year: Medication Reminders:
As you prepare for the upcoming school year, please remember that all medications that students need to take at school require a physician’s order. The medication order form was shared via ParentSquare and must be completed and signed by your child’s healthcare provider.

Don't Forget, when bringing medication to school:
A completed physician’s order must accompany the medication.
Medications must be brought to school in the original pharmacy-labeled container with the prescription label intact.
Parents/guardians must bring medications to school. Please do not send medications to school with your student.
This applies to both prescription and over-the-counter medications that will be administered at school.

Please make arrangements with your child’s healthcare provider and the school nurse before the first day of school if your student will need medication during the school day. Feel free to stop by during open house if you have any questions or need a physical form.
See you soon!

Help us welcome Faith Allesch to the BIS Family! Here is a message from Faith:

“My name is Faith Allesch, and this will be my first year as an official teacher! I just graduated from SBU this May after student teaching in another fifth-grade classroom at BIS.

I recently moved to Bolivar after living in Washington, Alaska, and small-town Missouri. I am one of four siblings, and my youngest brother has proudly served as my practice student for five years now. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, sewing, watching movies, and everything to do with music.

I realized my love of teaching late in high school, and three years of education classes and field experience have only made me more sure of this calling. I teach third graders on Sunday mornings, but I am stoked to get to work with fifth graders full time!

My goal is to create an effective classroom community where all students feel safe, encouraged, and valued. I am looking forward to working with your students this year and am so excited to be joining the Bolivar team!”

We are excited to have Faith beginning her teaching career with us. Welcome to the BIS Family! 💙💛

Help us welcome Chloe Duran to the BIS Family! Here is a message from Chloe:

“Hi! I’m Chloe Duran, and as a graduate of Bolivar High School, I am beyond grateful to be a part of the BIS team! I have been a paraprofessional for the last five years, and I am so excited to continue at BIS!

Outside of school, I love spending time with family, friends, and my fur babies. I love spending time outdoors and anything crafty!

I chose to become an educator because I have a lot of compassion for students! My goal is to give them the most positive environment where they can thrive!”

We are excited to have Chloe continuing her journey at BIS. Welcome to the BIS Family! 💙💛

Help us welcome Christa Blain to the BIS Family! Here is a message from Christa:

“My name is Christa Blain, and I am so very excited to join the BIS family! Bolivar is the best community, and I am so excited to keep leading and loving the students of this community!

This will be my 19th year in education and my 13th year in Bolivar. My husband and I have raised two kids here, and we are so proud to call it home. When I am not teaching, I love spending time together with family, traveling, and camping. Really, any adventure is great as long as it includes coffee.

I became an educator because I love kids and want to see them become the very best version of themselves. I believe it is what I have been called to do, and it brings me such joy to see students learn and grow! I’m so excited for this new role as a reading teacher at BIS. I am so passionate about the importance of helping students become strong readers.

PROUD TO BE A LIBERATOR!”

We are excited to have Christa joining us as a reading teacher. Welcome to the BIS Family! 💙💛
