🎨 CALL FOR ARTISTS: DEADLINE EXTENDED TO AUGUST 23, MIDNIGHT
Paint a mural people will literally sit inside of.
The Bolingbrook Arts Council, in partnership with the Bolingbrook Park District and Knights of Columbus Councils 6521 and 11092, is looking for one artist to paint an original mural on a reclaimed Noblewins wind turbine blade bench that will be permanently installed in a Bolingbrook park.
This is public art with a purpose:
a bench that becomes part of a neighborhood... part of this community's story... part of a series of artworks that will beautify the park for years and years to come.
The basics:
• The canvas: a curved wind turbine blade bench, roughly 124 sq ft of painted surface
• Compensation: $2,500 flat fee (materials included)
• Painted indoors at the Bolingbrook Park District Public Works facility
• Painting window: September 8 to October 18, 2026
• Public debut: week of November 9, 2026 at Knights of Columbus Park
The design should celebrate the history and service of the two Knights of Columbus councils and reflect their four pillars: Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.
Proposal deadline: Sunday, August 23, 2026 by 11:59 PM (yes, this one moves fast!)
To apply, send the following to: [email protected]:
• a brief artist statement
• a preliminary sketch or concept
• images of 2 to 3 past works (murals and large-scale pieces especially welcome)
• your contact info
