Bolingbrook STEM Association

Bolingbrook STEM Association This is what sparked the idea of establishing the Bolingbrook STEM Association.

The Bolingbrook STEM Association aspires to provide a community wide program that exposes students to a series of innovative learning experiences dedicated to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Bolingbrook, IL is a thriving, diverse, and family friendly community, that has grown and evolved over the years into a wonderful place to live, work, and shop. The community lives up to its motto…

“A Place to Grow!” When thinking about our community’s continued growth and development, our children and teens immediately come to mind, as they are the future leaders. A group of like-minded community advocates led by the organization’s President Sheldon Watts, came together in May of 2017 to form what is now known as the Bolingbrook STEM Association. The goal of the assembled group was to establish an organization that fosters an increased awareness and exposure around “ALL THINGS STEM” in Bolingbrook. This is being carried out by creating a central repository for dialogue, partnership and promotion of local Science, Technology, Engineering and Math programming and activities. We look forward to YOU joining in and contributing to the Bolingbrook STEM Association’s mission!

A message from our BSA President & Founder Sheldon Watts:

I genuinely appreciate every opportunity I’ve been given to serve and give back throughout my life’s journey. While I have been blessed to serve in many capacities, my work with youth has always been especially meaningful to me. As President & Founder of the Bolingbrook STEM Association, our team has had the privilege of creating opportunities that ignite curiosity, develop critical skills, and prepare young people for success in college, skilled trades, business professions, and life in a rapidly evolving global economy through Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education.

There is nothing more rewarding than watching students light up with excitement as they solve problems, complete projects, and discover new possibilities. Those moments remind us that every ounce of effort is worth it.

I am beyond grateful, humbled, and honored to have been selected as the recipient of the 2026 STEAM Innovation Community Award by After the Peanut, an organization that shares our passion for inspiring young minds and expanding opportunities through STEAM education. I look forward to celebrating with ATP this Saturday and continuing the important work of empowering the next generation.

As I always say, Go STEM!

Bolingbrook STEM Association participating in the John R. Tibbott School's STEAM Night!

04/29/2026

Our Bolingbrook STEM Association team truly enjoyed participating once again in John R. Tibbott Elementary School’s annual STEAM Night! As always, Tibbott students and families showed up in great numbers and were fully engaged with all of the participant booths.

We were especially excited to connect with students through our insect exhibit, where students had the opportunity to view and learn about a wide variety of insects, as well as create their own through a hands-on activity. Our circuitry boards, animatronics, and robots were also a big hit with attendees.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Tibbott School administration and staff for the invitation and for their continued support of STEM education.

Go STEM!
