I am really excited to see the new Fleet Feet Boise location officially open right off the Greenbelt at Esther Simplot Park. 👟🏃🏼‍♂️

I’ve been fortunate to work with and be supported by Fleet Feet Meridian, and one thing I’ve always appreciated is how much they care about the running community.

I highly recommend going through their shoe fitting process, trying on a few different options, and finding the pair that actually feels right for your feet. One of the coolest things about this new location is that you can step right out the door, hop onto the Greenbelt, and take your shoes for a quick test run.

They’ve also got plenty of running essentials, gear, and support for runners of all levels.

I’m grateful for everything Fleet Feet has done to support my running journey over the years and, more importantly, for everything they continue to do to support runners here in the Treasure Valley.

If you’re in Boise, stop in, say hi, check out the new store, and support a business that continues to invest in our local running community. 👊🏼🔥

Runner’s Devotional: God, what are You teaching me right now?

“God, when will this be over?”

We’ve probably all asked that question during difficult seasons of life.

And if you’re a runner, you’ve probably asked a similar question in the middle of a tough workout.

How much farther? How many reps are left? When is this hill going to end?

But maybe there’s a better question:

“God, what are You teaching me right now?”

Running teaches us this all the time.

One bad mile doesn’t ruin the run. One difficult section doesn’t mean we stop. We assess, adjust, and keep moving.

Maybe we need to slow the pace.

Maybe we need some nutrition or hydration.

Maybe our breathing needs to settle.

Maybe nothing physically needs to change and we simply need to adjust our perspective.

Run the mile you’re in.

Faith works similarly.

When life gets difficult, our instinct is often to look ahead and ask when the struggle will finally be over. But God may be doing some of His greatest work in us right in the middle of the uncomfortable mile.

Maybe He’s teaching us patience.

Maybe surrender.

Maybe humility.

Maybe resilience.

Maybe He’s teaching us that we don’t need to know how the entire run turns out to faithfully take the next step.

So today, instead of asking:

“God, when will this be over?”

Try asking:

“God, what are You teaching me right now?”

Then listen.

Make the adjustment.

Trust the process.

And keep moving.

Because just like running, faith isn’t about having every mile figured out before we start. It’s about trusting God enough to run the mile we’re in.

One faithful step at a time. 🏃‍♂️🙏🏼

Today’s message comes from the Bible verse Psalm 119:105, “your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”. God has given us a lamp for these exact footsteps we are taking in this moment. Can we surrender the rest to the Lord? I know it’s easier said than done, but this is what He wants us to do. Don’t worry about tomorrow, don’t worry about next week, focus on these exact footsteps. ONE STEPNAT A TIME. Have a blessed day, my friends. 🙏🏼

There isn’t one “perfect” way to breathe when you run. 🫁 Different paces and different workouts can call for different breathing rhythms, so I think it’s valuable to actually practice a few techniques instead of waiting until you’re tired and struggling.

Try nasal breathing, nose + mouth breathing, different inhale/exhale rhythms, and longer controlled exhales on easy runs and see what feels natural. As the intensity increases, let your breathing increase with it, just try to stay relaxed, rhythmic, and in control.

Breathing is a tool, not a rule. Practice it. Train it. Find what works for you. 👊🏼🏃🏼‍♂️

Pre-run routine. 🏃🏼‍♂️ These are little things I’ve picked up through 20+ years of running and a lot of trial and error. Blister and chafing prevention with Vaseline, Zensah compression sleeves to keep my legs feeling supported, shoes from Fleet Feet Meridian, dynamic warm-up movements, a little nasal breathing, and an easy jog to get everything moving. None of it is complicated, but together it helps me feel more prepared, run smoother, and enjoy the process a little more. 👊🏼🔥

I’m learning something in this season of my life that honestly hasn’t always come easy for me.

I like to work. I like having a plan. I like solving problems. As a coach, I’m constantly telling people to take action, stay disciplined and trust the process.

But lately I’m learning that sometimes the strongest move is to stop trying to control the outcome and trust God.

When life feels uncertain, my natural reaction is to figure it out. Fix it. Work harder. Create movement. But sometimes that only creates more anxiety and pressure.

I keep coming back to God’s Word being a “lamp to our feet and a light to our path.”

A lamp isn’t a stadium light.

It doesn’t illuminate the next three miles. It gives us enough light to see the next few steps.

Faith doesn’t require knowing where the path ends. Faith requires trusting God enough to take the next right step without knowing where it ends.

That applies everywhere…relationships, parenting, fitness, business, finances, health, sobriety and all the things we’re praying about that still don’t have answers.

Sometimes the faithful step is action. Have the conversation. Start training. Make the call. Change the habit. Apologize. Do the work.

And sometimes the faithful step is being still. Pray. Listen. Be patient. Let things unfold instead of forcing movement simply because uncertainty makes you uncomfortable.

That isn’t passivity. That’s discernment.

I’m learning that I don’t have to make something happen simply because nothing appears to be happening right now.

I can do the work that belongs to me and give the rest to God.

Less control. Less anxiety. Less reliance on my own understanding.

More prayer. More listening. More trust. More surrender.

I don’t need the whole road illuminated.

I just need enough light for today.

One faithful step at a time.

Happy Sunday. 🙏🏼
