25 years ago today. What happened all those years ago still seems so fresh to the fire service today. We remember the 343 that paid the ultimate sacrifice during the greatest rescue mission of all time. We also remember the number of firefighters who have passed post 9/11 to illness while we watch those numbers continues to rise. Itβs wild to think that a good amount of the fire service was not even born yet when this tragic event happened. It is the job of the older firefighters to make sure the young members understand and know what happened that day. Make sure to tell them the stories, sit with them and watch the documentaries, show them the heroic actions of the FDNY that day and what it truly means to be a firefighter. We owe it to the 343 and the over 600 members have died post 9/11 from working on the pile to be the best firefighters we can and to live up to what it means to wear the Maltese on our chest. WE SAID WE WOULD NEVER FORGET! 9-11-2001. 08:46. MANHATTAN BOX 5-5-8087. πΊπΈ NEVER FORGOTTEN. (FDNY 343) (NYPD 23) (PAPD 37) (EMS 9)
