Over the past week we’ve welcomed our full team back (YAHOO!!), dug into QUEST planning, explored resources, debated whether cereal was a soup or salad, created inspired art, exercised our math minds, and launched our new literacy initiative to ensure all Future leaders are joyful and proficient readers!
Our teaching team gathered and retreated last weekend to play, eat, laugh, and to ground ourselves in our values and our “why”. We believe mission driven and talented teams lead to greater outcomes and supportive, joyful school experiences for kids - this is The Future Way. We can’t wait to welcome all of our engineers back next Wednesday!
All new and returning Future families are invited to our meet and greet TONIGHT at Grueber Park from 6:00-8:00 PM! Pack up some snacks (or a picnic dinner), enjoy the splash pad, and make a new friend - school is always better with a buddy! A few of our team members and administrative team will be on site to say hello, too. ☀️♥️
As summer winds down, Future teachers are soaking up STEM activities to enrich our engineers’ math and Quest learning! Great math conferences, hosted by BSU and ICTM, took us into the field, visiting the MK Nature Center, Birds of Prey, the ID Historical Museum, and Zoo Boise. Math is everywhere - and so are our teachers!

Our 5th grade engineers are putting their work and voice into action today at the event. They are sharing their “H20, where does it go?” Quest presentations, primarily centered on water quality, education regarding the impact of dams on our Idaho river, and all about the trout they raised and released this spring. We’re so proud of their work and how they are modeling the values and mission of Future - young people leading and creating a better future world 🌍! The Watershed event is 10-2 today and has free activities and fun for the whole family, come say hello!

Second grade mathematicians in Ms Carolyn’s class put their counting skills into action as they helped inventory thousands of classroom supplies, so nothing will go to waste. Way to give spring cleaning new meaning!

As an extension to their Literacy deep dive on Plants and Pollinators, 2nd graders went to exploring and visited BUGS (Boise Urban Garden School) - their trip helped cement the idea that “Small things can make a BIG difference!”.
We have over 40 volunteers from supporting our “JA in a Day” hosted by Junior Achievement of Idaho! Volunteers are spending the entire day facilitating Junior Achievement lessons in all K-6 classrooms. We’re grateful for the community and partnership!
🎉🥳 Put your party pants on, it’s time to celebrate YEAR FIVE at Future! Join us this Thursday from 5:30-7 PM for SPRING FEST. We have over $7,000 of items up for auction and raffle ($2 per raffle ticket). Friends and family are welcome to attend. Dunk tank, cotton candy, inflatables, churros, El Gallo Giro taco plates, Quest Showcase, Art Show, grab your annual tomato plants🍅, yard games, community partner booths, and more!
Our 4th and 6th graders were treated to an incredible Act 1 performance of Swan Lake today by 🩰🦢!
4th, 5th and 6th graders took on a fierce dodgeball game against staff this morning during Future Friday! Engineers put up a good fight but ultimately our festive and zesty staff were the ultimate dodgeball champs!!🏆💪🏽☄️
Our winning artists were honored in a ceremony last night. Thank you for the incredible opportunity for students to share their craftsmanship and hearts for inclusivity and justice. We’re grateful for the support of Art Teacher, Ms. Christina for guiding and supporting our young artists!
2nd grade got out into the community today and visited Restore/Habitat for Humanity where they turned recycled doors into Art, donated items at , and practiced their skills with money to shop for gently used items. Every Engineer came away with one used book - they also raised $110 to donate to a new Green Club next year as 3rd graders!
Hats off to our Shake It Up thespians who enthusiastically performed two showings of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream on Friday 🎭. Gratitude to our director, Ms. Natashia, as well as Ms. Sage, Ms. Katie, and Ms. Noel for their hard work and time to support this fully student led production!

Third grade engineers have been learning about Water Conservation during their literacy module and the impacts of humans on our climate during their Quest. Today they explored and learned about microorganisms that can live in polluted water and other organisms that cannot survive the polluted water. In addition, they also learned about how our water is cleaned through the waste treatment cycle.
Thank you for sharing your talents and awesome performance with us this morning, ! Following the performance, the actors led our Shake It Up team in a theatre performance workshop, too!
A crew of our 5th and 6th grade engineers traveled to to participate in a design thinking workshop. These students harnessed their creativity, craftsmanship and wonder to work collaboratively to design and prototype an innovative transportation device to get Timmy the Gummy Bear from his home to an amusement park!
3rd graders held a Poetry Read Aloud around a cozy fire this morning ! With the support of local poet and Future friend, , and teachers, engineers crafted Earth Day haikus and poems. We’re grateful for the privilege of stewarding our earth, and incredible partners in the community. 🌎🫶📝♥️
Boise Forestry guided second graders on a Greenbelt walk this week to learn all about our native trees, environmental health, and pollination!
Today we had over 40 students from help us tackle projects across the building as part of their Project Do Good Day. We’re so grateful for their helping hands and partnership!
3rd graders have been working with so much joy and craftsmanship on a collaborative mural with a local muralist, Ms. Mary. Each engineer had their own square to complete. On May 12th, their murals will be presented and hung for showing with our Garden City neighbors at ! This project is part of their current Quest related to natural disasters and the intersection of weather and communities.

Erin, Meg and Nicole came from the Ada County Highway Department () to talk about the big picture of transportation in Ada County. They discussed how ACHD works with six different cities to run ride shares, build bike pathways, and make sure the roads are clean and clear for all commuters. This ties in with 6th Grade’s Quest, “People Movers”, looking at how physics, change, and vehicles help us move!
