Boise School District Libraries

Boise School District Libraries are at the center of teaching and learning in our schools!

Operating as usual

This 'Tough Topics' poster from the Shreve Memorial Library in Shreveport, Louisiana is a powerful reminder during National Library Week of the valuable role that libraries play in our communities and the importance of the freedom to read!

For two excellent book series for tweens and teens that tackle a variety of challenging life topics, we highly recommend the Smart Girl's Guides for tween girls ( and the Instant Help Solutions Guides for teen girls and boys (

For two inspiring books about girls fighting against censorship in schools - both for ages 9 to 12 - we highly recommend "Ban This Book" ( and "Property of the Rebel Librarian" (

For a thought-provoking young adult novel exploring school book banning, we recommend "Suggested Reading" for ages 14 and up at

And, for stories that celebrate the value that books bring to our lives -- and the libraries and librarians that help make them available to so many people -- visit our blog post, "35 Mighty Girl Stories about Books, Libraries, and Literacy," at

So excited to share one of my favorite things with my team! Librarians are all about helping people try new, exhilarating things!

This week convinced the Instructional Support team to try something new. The trapeze! Although it was intimidating, it was exhilarating as well.

For teachers, trying a new strategy or tool can sometimes feel a little intimidating. Just know that you have us to support you and cheer you on. Who knows... it might just feel exhilarating! Please reach out if you need help. We are here to support you.
