Hello! I am a research assistant at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and I'm reaching out regarding a current UCSB study examining how parents have been affected during remote learning.

The study is currently recruiting participants for a short 5-10 minute survey. It has many important implications for improving work-from-home policies and parental well-being in childcare.

The survey can be accessed at https://tinyurl.com/COVID-time-use-survey. We would greatly appreciate your participation and outreach to parents, local PTA members and organizations – thank you for your time!
Here's one of my original blog posts updated with fresh perspectives in 2021.

Are near-misses a gateway to creating a culture of learning and risk management in your outdoor program? And what if we fail to cash in the "lottery tickets" which near-misses represent - lottery tickets we've already paid for?

Tagging some programs we've worked with over the years on these kinds of organizational learning initiatives.

Hibernation is over!!!! And we are back! 👏🙌

Yes we have been solid full and staying business with farm sales online, but now the benefit auctions are firing back up and we couldn't be more excited!!!! ❤️📈

Kicking off the 2021 virtual season we are live in studio for the first ever Riverstone International School virtual auction!! 🏫🚸

This crowd has been electric tonight and are having such a great night! The community that surrounds this school and these kids is truly inspiring. Although using such a tremendous teaching tools and education programs, which send this kids above others, one thing has been missing.... We need a new wifi system!!! 😔😂

We'll have no fear, because we will be soon not suffering from any buffering anymore!!! Tonight couldn't not have happened without such a great team on all sides putting this together, and for that we thank everyone!!! 🙏🎊🎶

Three reasons that students choose an IB World School are:

1) Colleges and universities around the world recognize the IB program for its ability to prepare students well for university.

2) The IB is a comprehensive program, in which students develop both academically and personally.

3) Studying or living abroad in the future is a goal for the student.

Being a judge for National History Day in Idaho is an interesting way to connect with students, support your community, and learn about history! The Idaho State Historical Society is seeking volunteers to support National History Day (NHD) in Idaho students. Educators, librarians, and ANYONE who loves history and the pursuit of knowledge is welcome to judge! Registration is required: https://history.idaho.gov/nhdi/judges/

NHD in Idaho is a year-long academic program where students create an interdisciplinary project that focuses on historical research, interpretation and creative expression. Students learn critical thinking, problem-solving, and research skills while building self-esteem and confidence. These 21st century skills are keys to success in college, career, and citizenship.

Judges are an integral part of the experience for students. By participating in NHD, students become writers, filmmakers, web designers, playwrights and artists as they create unique contemporary expressions of history. The winners of the state contest will represent Idaho at the National NHD competition in Washington D.C.

Please consider volunteering at one of the contests:

• Boise: March 7th at Riverstone International School
• Meridian: February 29th at Lowell Scott Middle School
• Nampa: March 14th at Idaho Arts Charter School
• Rathdrum: March 14th at North Idaho STEM Charter Academy
• Idaho Falls: March 2nd at Rocky Mountain Middle School, Idaho Falls
• State Competition: April 11th at The College of Idaho

"Several weeks ago we went on an Outdoor Education hike and looked at a planet display and ever since, our students have been obsessed with space. We decided to make our last week before break about outer space. They each picked a planet and had a choice to either paint it with a paint brush or a tooth brush. Most of them picked a paint brush." -Kalie Marsh, Preschool Teacher

Our grade 8 students just concluded an in-class debate, arguing whether or not all voices in our Riverstone community have the power to be heard. This debate was the culmination of themes discussed throughout our To Kill a Mockingbird unit, including systems power and privilege within communities.

Members of our administration were present for the debate—including Jeff Paulson, Head of School, and Damon Brown, Middle School Director—giving students the opportunity to make their voices heard!
