The Chipotle fundraiser is only ONE week away! Time flies when you are having fun!!

March 6-12 is National School Social Work Week. We wanted to take a moment this week to celebrate and acknowledge the seven Social Workers (two not pictured) in West Ada that work tirelessly to support our over 40,000 students and their families. These are just some of the unsung heroes in West Ada that enable our students to achieve academic success, personal growth and assist and support our families on a regular basis. Thank you for ALL you do!

We are looking for a treasurer and an at-large board member for the 2022-23 school year. Two mom's are graduating on and Silver Sage needs you!

Congratulations to the Silver Sage Elementary Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Stanfill, and our Classified Employee of the Year, Ms. Stobie!

I just wanted to share this email I got today from Down Dog. This is awesome for all of our kiddos! Go check it out!!

Due to the relentless efforts of our staff, West Ada schools have proven to be safe, healthy, and productive learning environments for our students. However, we are operating in a difficult circumstance as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to unfold. In response to the evolving situation, we continue to shift and explore all options to avoid disruption to the learning environment as much as possible while keeping our children in-school. The circumstances that once seemed insurmountable have revealed our greatest strengths and resulted in the most impactful work of our careers.
Reflecting on the challenges the pandemic has presented to our schools, I am awed by your continued commitment to provide quality educational opportunities to our students. You all continue to guide our schools in a way that none of us could have ever prepared for. With every obstacle, you have thrived; remaining flexible and optimistic and I am beyond proud of each of you and the work I’ve been witness to over the past semester. Each of you are a shining light for your staff members, parents and students and I am eternally grateful.
Our collective efforts will make this school year successful for each other and for our students. Given the current staff shortages experienced due to COVID, we will find strength by pulling together, embracing the old adage, “It takes a village to raise a child.” To recognize and compensate the work happening across the District, we will begin "Operation It Takes a Village" as outlined below:
The following is a temporary arrangement that will be implemented from January 3 to February 25, 2022.
Substitutes will be compensated based on:
1.) If a substitute works:
• 4 days per week (Monday-Friday), they will receive 1.5 times their daily rate of pay
• 5 days per week (Monday-Friday), they will receive 2 times their daily rate of pay
2.) Classified staff who work additional hours to support our schools will be compensated 2 times their hourly pay rate for any time they work outside their standard hours, with immediate supervisor approval.
3.) Contracted certificated staff that assist with additional duties or classroom coverage during their designated prep time will be compensated at a rate of $50.00 per hour.
Regional Directors will be working with building leaders to implement a system to track and report additional work hours as mentioned above.
As we continue to embody this school year’s theme: Reflect, Embrace and Build, I ask each of you to take a moment. Reflect, taking a look back to March of 2020. Embrace where we are today and how far we have come. Build on the work we have done as we continue to impact change for improvement in our schools and District.
Almost every aspect of our professional lives changed due to this pandemic and I am grateful for the way we responded. The last several months have challenged us and offered us new opportunities to be optimistic every single day. Together, we have responded to the best of our ability and in the best interest of our students.
