The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses that both complement and expand our current offerings, while also contributing to the growth and development of our MA and MAA programs.

This Thanksgiving, we would like to acknowledge that Boise State University was established upon the ancestral homelands of the Original Boise Valley People – the Newe (Shoshone), Numu (Paiute), and the Panakwate (Bannock) People – whose descendants are citizens of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes of Fort Hall, the Shoshone-Paiute Tribes of Duck Valley, Fort McDermitt Paiute-Shoshone Tribe, the Burns Paiute Tribe, and the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. We are grateful for the bounty we enjoy today, the abundant variety of foods this earth provides.

Happy International Archaeology Day!
Today we celebrate Indigenous People’s Day to honor the traditions and cultural heritage of the five federally recognized tribes that live in Idaho: the Coeur d’Alene, the Kootenai, the Nez Perce, Shoshone Bannock, Shoshone Paiute, and other Native-American tribes represented in Idaho.
We are so excited to offer a minor for students who are interested in Native American and Indigenous studies! Talk to your advisor if you are interested.
Take a look at what our students have been up to this term! At the Orchard Combat Training Center, students learned about survey techniques while working on real-life scenarios together with members of the cultural resource management office at the Idaho National Guard.

This fall, anthropology professor, Dr. Kendall House, mentored an undergraduate student as part of the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Scholarship.
These competitive scholarships offered by the Institute for Inclusive and Transformative Scholarship (IFITS) are paid, 12-week research experiences offered to undergraduate students. They are open to ALL majors, giving students the opportunity to gain meaningful research skills with a faculty mentor while working on a research or creative activity project.
The Spring 2025 application is open and the deadline is November 15! Look at the Office of Undergraduate Research website for more information.

We are so excited that the 50th annual IAS conference will be held at Boise State University! It is October 12th from 9-4 pm at the Barnwell Room in the Boise State University Student Union Building.
