Barn & Operations Manager
We are seeking an experienced, organized, and hands-on Barn & Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of our equine facility. This position combines horse and barn management with staff supervision, facility maintenance coordination, scheduling, and operational leadership. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong horse knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to maintain high standards of care and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
-Barn Management
-Oversee/provide daily horse care, including feeding, turnout, blanketing, stall cleaning and health monitoring.
-Ensure barn operations run efficiently and consistently.
-Coordinate veterinary, farrier, chiropractic, and other equine care appointments.
-Monitor horse health and promptly communicate concerns to owners, trainers, and management.
-Maintain accurate records for horses, treatments, schedules, and inventory.
-Supervise and schedule barn staff.
-Train new employees on facility procedures and standards.
-Delegate tasks and ensure completion of daily responsibilities.
-Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment.
-Oversee cleanliness, organization, and safety throughout the property.
-Coordinate maintenance and repairs for barns, arenas, fencing, equipment, and grounds.
-Manage inventory of feed, bedding, supplies, and equipment.
-Work with vendors and service providers to ensure operational needs are met.
-Assist with budgeting and operational planning.
-Manage schedules, vendor communications, and facility logistics.
-Support client relations and ensure a high level of customer service.
-Maintain compliance with safety protocols and facility policies.
Qualifications Required
-Managerial experience
-Strong knowledge of equine health, nutrition, and general horse care.
-Experience supervising employees/independent contractors and coordinating schedules.
-Excellent organizational and communication skills.
-Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying weather conditions.
-Must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred
-Experience in boarding facilities. 3 years of experience managing horses and barn operations.
-Equipment operation experience (tractor, UTV, etc.).
-Basic budgeting and inventory management experience.
