COACHES CANDIDATE COURSE – SEPT 19-20!!!

Saturday & Sunday, September 19-20, from 10am-4pm, SBG Coach and Black Belt Paul Sharp, will be conducting a Level 1 Coaches Candidate Course!

Coach Sharp is a retired police officer with over 20 years experience with assignments that included patrol, SWAT, and training as well as resident officer, undercover narcotics/vice, and neighborhood response officer. Coach Sharp is a life long martial artist and instructor in the Filipino Martial Arts and Jeet Kune Do concepts as well as Mixed Martial Arts and holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo. Having competed at a professional level in Mixed Martial Arts and Boxing, he is uniquely positioned to coach others from a place of knowledge and experience.

This event is for anyone interested in becoming an SBG coach, a current SBG coach, and coaches outside of SBG who are interested in developing their skills and learning from one of the world’s best martial arts coaches, in Coach Sharp!

We will provide refreshments each morning and encourage all attendees to wear comfortable clothing and bring note taking materials. For all non coaches, this is an opportunity to deepen your experience at SBG Idaho and become involved beyond the role of a student! For all current coaches, this is a tool to further your knowledge, refine your skills, and continue to give the best to our students! If you are in a leadership role in any part of your life, this course will give you the ability to communicate more effectively while motivating and encouraging those around you properly.

The cost is $125 for all SBG members and $175 for non-members. You can register for this event at the front desk, up to the morning of the event, or online. Looking forward to seeing you all there!!!

SBG Idaho Coach and professional Nak Muay, Kyler “Felony” Fordyce, makes the walk to the ring tomorrow at Rebellion Muay Thai in Melbourne, Australia!

Riding the momentum of two impressive round 1 finishes at Raja Knockout in Bangkok over the last two months, Fordyce (10-1) plots his course south to Melbourne to take on Dassakorn Saton of 8 Blades Muay Thai (10-0) in a much-anticipated Welterweight (66 kg) showdown!

SUMMER ANNIVERSARY BBQ – AUGUST 8!!!

This summer marks 19 years of sharing our passion for martial arts and changing lives within our community! We invite everyone to come celebrate the occasion with us at our Annual Anniversary BBQ!!!

What started out as a small gym on a hidden back street in Garden City, has now grown to the largest facility of its kind in the state of Idaho. What once served primarily as a training facility for aspiring fighters is now also a community hub where people of all walks of life come to improve their health, find inner peace, and develop lasting friendships. We are incredibly grateful for everyone that chooses to make SBG Idaho part of their lives, and we want to celebrate the occasion with all of you!

We will meet at JULIA DAVIS PARK in the Celebration Pavilion near the corner of Broadway & Park, at 3pm on Saturday, August 8th. This will be a potluck and we invite everyone to bring a dish or an item for the grill. We look forward to seeing everyone there for an afternoon of food, fun, and good times with our Tribe!!!

SUMMER SUBMISSION SHOWDOWN SPONSOR HIGHLIGHT – NORTHWEST SUBMISSION CHALLENGE

We want to take a moment to recognize our final event partner for the 2nd Annual Summer Submission Showdown – Northwest Submission Challenge!

The Northwest Submission Challenge is Idaho's longest running and most prestigious grappling event! An Idaho original that began as a standard tournament, has now evolved into a super-fight series event that attracts the best submission grapplers from all across the Pacific Northwest and Rocky Mountain regions!

The NWSC's mission from the beginning has always been to grow Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and submission grappling in the Treasure Valley and beyond. In that effort, they are happy to support events like the Summer Submission Showdown, which gives newer competitors the chance to test their skills in a safe, low-pressure environment. We are incredibly grateful for their support and look forward to some of our first timers eventually getting the opportunity to compete on the NWSC stage!

SUMMER SUBMISSION SHOWDOWN 2 THIS SATURDAY!!!

We are incredibly excited to announce our second annual Gorilla Cup Summer Submission Showdown this Saturday, August 1!!!

Our inaugural event last summer was a huge success, with our grapplers, kids and adults, showing off their skills and competing hard in front of a loud, supportive crowd! This year we are bringing even more fun and grappling actions, with a stacked lineup of youth and adult matches, capped off by a Quintet Showdown between teams led by Coach Jake and Coach Jesse!
Before the action heat up on the mats we’ll be getting together for some summer fun! Come hang with your Tribe and enjoy the die-dye booth, bake sale, hotdogs, and a dunk tank for students to dunk their favorite coaches and staff!

STELLA FEAR JUDO SEMINAR - AUGUST 8 & 9

In our effort to always deliver the best training opportunities for our students and coaches, we are excited to announce a Judo seminar with Black Belt, Stella Fear on Saturday and Sunday, August 8 & 9!

Senior National Champion, Junior World Team Member, Judo and Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt - Stella not only brings elite grappling credentials to our mats, but as the daughter of SBG Vice President, Travis Davison, an elite coaching pedigree as well!

The seminar will run from 10am-noon each day, with Saturday's focus on traditional Judo training and Sunday on Judo for Jiu-Jitsu, MMA, and self defense. So no matter your grappling focus, invest in your training and level up next weekend with one of the top young coaches in the Pacific Northwest!
