Ms. Katie loves teaching music to kids! Learn about Let's Play Music and her preschool program here.
There is so much to love about Let's Play Music Symposium! Classes, workshops, fun, games, dancing...the list goes on and on! But the best part is mingling with friends old and new. So much collaboration, storytelling, silliness, laughter, and wonderful conversation. One of the best parts of my year!
Thanks for putting on such a great symposium where we can all get together!
Thanks Chelsea!

It was so fun to be back in the classroom teaching this past week!! Thanks to one of my moms for catching this fun picture of Echo Edna helping the kids remember the steps we use to SIGHT READ music:
1. Look and think...
2. Sing and sign...
3. Then we are ready to play!
Alright, all you musical magicians, remember to play the piano this week at home and I can't wait to see you in the classroom again next week! :)
Let's Play Music - Making Musicians
Far beyond piano lessons, your Let's Play Music student will also learn chord structure, ear training, sight singing, and classical music instruction. We take full advantage of the brain's ability to absorb musical concepts and teach skills in an age appropriate way.
Solfege hand signs, folk songs, games, imagination, and creativity are important components of each lesson.

Here are a few reasons you might want to consider putting your child into music classes β¬οΈ
The Let's Play Music curriculum was created with these developmental factors in mind. We believe music education is the best investment a parent could make for the development of their child.

On Sunday mornings when I was young I would almost always wake up to soft classical or instrumental music playing from the stereo in the living room. This background music in my home created a peaceful way to move throughout the morning as our family got ready for the day. I'm so glad my mom, Nancy Wiest Nay, took the time to create a calm environment and expose our family to great music!
Not only can classical music affect your environment, listening to classical music can improve mood, reduce depression symptoms, and increase feelings of happiness. It also increases productivity and has been found to enhance focus and concentration, making it an ideal background for studying or working. ππΆ
Lets Play Music classes
During the first semester of the first year of Let's Play Music, students use these cute red balloons to learn the spaces and lines on the staff. At the beginning of the semester, we playfully use our bodies to go up and down as we sing the major scale, and then later we get to learn how to play this major scale on our tone bells!

1st year classes have limited spots so come check out the amazing Let's Play Music program before it's too late.
It's summer βοΈ and keeping my 5 kids from driving me crazy, preparing for classes that start in a month, settling into our new house, and keeping it somewhat tidy (so I can see where I'm walking...) is a LOT to multi-task! π
No matter what, adulting often requires multitasking and I'm grateful that my brain has been trained with music from an early age (thanks mom!) to help support my - sometimes hectic - life.
In Let's Play Music, our young musicians are learning skills to read music while taking tempo, tone, style, and rhythm into consideration all while practicing strong hand-eye coordination! π§ This is great practice for their young brains to master the skill of multitasking which can be applied to so many other activities in life! πΆππΆ
My class sizes are limited so DM me if you'd like to learn more at a free sample class! ππ»
Let's Play Music - Making Musicians
Hello everyone, it's been a while! I've been away from this business page for quite some time so I thought it might be helpful to reintroduce myself and my studio in this little corner of the internet for those that follow me here.
My name is Katie Greenland, I own Greenland Music Studio, and I teach group music and piano classes in Boise, Idaho. I primarily teach the Let's Play Music program in my home, but I also get to teach an original curriculum I created at a nearby preschool. I love teaching music to kids in a way that honors their age, their development, and their need to learn through play. The thrill of watching kids sing, make musical connections, and have fun with friends brings me so much joy!
I hope you'll continue following me as I share fun music, information about what I get to teach, happenings in my studio, and more!
FREE sample class alert for this Saturday @ 1pm!
The curriculum is created for kids starting the program at age 4, 5, or 6. Classes are FUN, engaging, active - - just as they should be for such young kids. I teach ear training, how to read music, rhythm, chord theory, classical music form, and more all in an appropriate playful way for kids. Find out more at www.letsplaymusicsite.com and my personal studio website www.greenlandmusicstudio.com. Comment or DM if you and your child would like to come!!
DM or head to https://www.greenlandmusicstudio.com/FREE-Sample-Class to sign up! Spots are limited and are starting to fill up!
During the class you'll be able to see what a class looks like, get a feel for how music is taught, the scope of the program, and other scheduling/pricing logistics. You and your child will have a great time!!
Research shows that participating in music study benefits both brain structure and function! Music education produces bigger, better-functioning brains - - benefiting people of all ages, but especially young children!
When I was teaching private piano lessons, I had some moms who would ask me to teach their 5 year old. This was always a conundrum because their hands and attention spans are small. The traditional sitting-at-the-piano-bench-for-30-minutes approach didn't feel appropriate.
However, these moms had really good instincts that their child was ready to learn music - - - because they were!
Let's Play Music solves the piano playing dilemma by starting out students at the right time with the right learning tools. A child's auditory processing system is at its highest function from ages 0-9 - when they are learning language. If we wait to teach piano until they are the traditional age to learn, we have wasted the best years - the best EARS! Teaching children to read music, to hear harmony, to produce rhythm, at an early age (4-5) takes advantage of the best years of learning and will produce a talented pianist!
Fall classes are now open in my studio!! DM me if you are interested in signing up or if you would like to attend an upcoming FREE sample class!
Spread the word! I'll be holding two free sample classes this month for my Let's Play Music classes that will be starting at the end of August. If you or someone you know would like their young kids to learn music theory, rhythm, piano, singing in tune and more in an age-appropriate FUN way, message me and they can see this curriculum in action! Let's Play Music is a 3-year program for young kids ages 4-6.
I'm holding a FREE sample class this Friday at 10am! DM me if you'd like to come and check out this amazing program!
I went to Montessori Learning Farm preschool today to do some fun musical activities with the sweet students. We sang my hello song with tone bells, played with rhythm sticks, enjoyed a singable storybook, and more! The Magical Lamp puppet show set to "Aragonaise" from Carmen was the highlight and each kid had a chance to play the autoharp. Thanks for having me!

It's May! And as I enjoy the beautiful sunny Springtime weather we're having, I'm fondly reminded of this great song I get to teach in 1st year. One thing that's so great about it is that you can replace the words with all sorts of things you're grateful for! For me today I'd sing....
May there always be flowers
May there always be birdsong
May there always be Springtime
May there always be sun!
You don't need to have perfect poetry skills to write a song to sing. ;) How would your song go?
I love podcasts and was so excited when the creators of Let's Play Music launched their podcast! You can find it on any podcast playing app and hear great conversations about how this program was created, a discussion on when to start piano lessons, how to make practicing fun, singing in tune, and more.
Saw this meme recently and it made me laugh! In 3rd year, students have the opportunity to learn to write treble clef, bass clef, notes, flats, and sharps during a weekly dictation activity. They are excited to learn to write these music symbols that they see when playing music, but it can be tricky. This meme is a good reminder that although we see these symbols all the time in music, it doesn't mean they are easy to create - - even famous composers didn't write them perfectly. π
The lesson here, I think, is clear: don't stop learning and composing just because your treble clef isn't perfectly drawn! πΌπ
These graphics are so helpful! Thanks Let's Play Music - Making Musicians !!
Enrollment is now open for my Let's Play Music classes starting at the beginning of next school year in August! This program is a group class and the 3-year program is designed for kids starting at age 4, 5, or 6.
