Music ignites all areas of child development, including the cognitive, verbal, physical and social-emotional skills to improve school readiness. It encourages the body and mind to work together and develops positive behaviors that your child will carry with them beyond kindergarten. Exposing children to music during early development gives them additional tools to learn crucial skills, such as the sounds and meanings of words, enhanced motor functions and strong memory skills.
While music facilitates effective adaptation of the skills below, it also infuses students with joy, which they are encouraged to express through movement and creating music themselves. Introducing these creative forms of learning and interacting to your child as early as possible opens developmental doors that may not be available to them in a traditional school readiness program.

Music Together is an early childhood music and movement program for children from birth through age eight—and the grownups who love them! First offered in 1987, these music classes help little ones develop their innate musicality—and much, much more.
The early childhood music curriculum has decades of research behind it, in both music education and child development. We know what we're talking about, and we're good at what we do! And because we recognize that children learn through play, we make everything we do in class engaging and fun. 🎶

An inclusive classroom takes into account how students learn. Teachers weave in different strategies like allowing kids to move around and use sensory or fidgets tools, as well as positive behavioral interventions and supports.
📚Every brain is different
Inclusive classrooms are filled with learners of different backgrounds and abilities. Inclusion helps kids build connections since they all learn in their own way. It also promotes awareness that difference is just a normal part of life, which can help them develop friendships across boundaries.
📚Support for all students
An inclusive class often brings professionals and service providers into the classroom to provide information and suggestions that help all students. If a student isn’t eligible for special education but still needs some extra support, they can get it informally with their peers in an integrated setting rather than being taken out of the learning environment completely.

🎶Yo ho, Yo ho, a pirate’s life for me!🎶

Cognitive development is all about how you learn and think. It's not just memorizing facts, but understanding the information so it can be put to use in your everyday life, including:
🧠 Understanding cause and effect,
🧠 Visual discrimination, matching, comparing, sorting, and organizing
🧠 Developing an increased attention span,
🧠 Problem solving,
🧠 Simple reasoning,
🧠 Understanding fact & fiction (or the difference between a truth & a lie),
🧠 Asking questions.
Preschoolers may be small, but they're full of big questions. They love to collect things and like practicing the same thing again and again. Pre-schoolers are also risk takers who try new things often.
These efforts develop their cognitive abilities and enhance their motor skills, improving characteristics that should be embraced, encouraged, and celebrated!
As children grow and develop, they should be able to improve their ability to focus on tasks at hand, remember information more easily and think critically. Cognitive skills help children better understand relationships between ideas as well the process of cause-and-effect; this leads them towards a greater overall analytical skill set.

Daily living skills include:
-toileting and washing
-brushing teeth and brushing hair
-feeding oneself and safely swallowing
-dressing, managing buttons, laces, and zippers
-showering/bathing
🍎Preschoolers are learning to talk about their feelings and the feelings of others. Social-emotional development, however, involves more than just expressing emotions. It entails:
-Developing friendships with other children and healthy relationships with adults
-Creating a positive personal identity (liking oneself and building confidence, for example)
-Participating and engaging in learning
-Regulating one’s own behavior and emotions
-Developing a working memory, curiosity for the world, and persistence

🎸🎹🥁Music therapy is a therapeutic technique that employs the use of music to address physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs. It uses activities like listening to melodies; playing an instrument; drumming or writing songs which promote healing feelings as well as regulate emotions such as anger or sadness.
clients may participate in the creative process by composing their own songs or creating improvisations. They can also engage with receptive processes through listening to relaxing pieces of music and discussing any thoughts or feelings they experience from it.
Exposure to music and movement instruction has been shown to improve children's memory, cognitive development, learning skills and expressive ability. Music is a crucial component of early childhood education because it promotes group learning as well as strengthening social skills such as turn-taking and cooperation among students.
The benefits of music therapy are so exciting. It could even be tempting to take up an instrument yourself! Kids naturally burst into song and pick up on melodies, which can help you become a better ally in their growth by encouraging these tendencies.

For some kids, the brain 🧠 is a playground of creativity. A number of studies have shown that children with learning or thinking differences are "wired" differently than their peers; in other words, they're born with brains that think and process information uniquely.
What is the difference between Neurodivergent and Neurotypical?
Neurodivergent children are those who have one of the following less typical cognitive variations: autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or dyspraxia. Neurotypicals on other hand are those with more common mental capacities and intellectual/cognitive capabilities.
Neurodiversity is a concept that helps kids with learning and thinking differences frame their challenges as simply different. It can help them embrace who they are in terms of what makes them unique, rather than focus on how other people may view them or the obstacles they face because of it.
Our goal is to help children learn and thrive together, while providing the therapies your child needs while they are IN school!
We believe that this will:
🎒Lessen the burnout from both parent and child
🎒Help your child thrive in preschool while receiving the amount of therapy actually needed
🎒Give you more time to do preferred activities
When searching for a "preschool near me" it can be challenging on deciding what preschool is best for your child, and I understand that struggle. Kids in Rhythm is an all inclusive preschool so every child is encouraged to enroll and can benefit any child with or without disabilities.

Q: Is Kids in Rhythm applicable to children who don’t need therapy?
A: Yes. Our inclusive pre-school is designed to encourage children of all abilities to learn together.
Q: Will my child’s learning be impacted by having neuro-diverse children in the classroom?
A: Here at Kids in Rhythm, we encourage kids with and without disabilities to learn and thrive together. “Research shows that high-quality inclusion can help young children make gains that are not only visible during preschool but also realized much later in life. Further supporting these outcomes are parent and practitioners’ perceptions of how exposure to inclusion from an early age can positively influence all children’s behaviors and skills.” (via First Steps to Preschool Inclusion study)
