We’d like to highlight a couple students in our program; Diego Tapia and Melanie Figueroa Zavala!!! They both earned awards at the 2023 Campus Awards ceremony.

Diego earned the Emerging Leader award - which was so deserved! Diego has definitely been a leader on campus through his participation in multiple student organizations, and we’d like to highlight his leadership in the TRIO program. Right away when he joined TRS he wanted to get involved. He’s provided support with social media content, TRIO Club, was a part of organizing the TRIO Gala, and was an active member in the TRS Cohort classes.

Melanie earned the Inclusive Excellence award due to her commitment of fostering an inclusive campus. She was the Vice President of Inclusive Excellence for the student government this past year. She did a phenomenal job of advocating for all students on campus and created space for community members to participate in conversations.

Diego and Melanie, we are so proud of all you are and all you do ❤️ It’s an honor to witness all your growth and accomplishments! Congrats 🥳

For spring break, Sadia Abdulkadir, participated in Alternative Spring Break with a few CAMP students. It was organized with St. Vincent De Paul and each day they participated in a new service. Sadia shared: "We learned so many skills throughout the week. It was an amazing experience. The week was filled with activities that helped us serve the community we live in and it was definitely rewarding." Nice work Sadia and to the wonderful CAMP students that participated!
