Stumbled upon an unexpected visitor in the lab room! Wishing all Broncos a fantastic summer break and eagerly anticipating the return to classes this fall!
It's time for our last Feature Friday of the school year! Every Friday, we dive into the fascinating world of radiologic sciences. Today, we are highlighting nuclear medicine.
Nuclear medicine is a type of medical imaging that shows the structure and function of organs and tissues in the body. Nuclear medicine was established by Saul Hertz in 1949 and it has revolutionized medical imaging, providing an incredible way to see inside the human body! Unlike standard x-rays, nuclear medicine reveals soft tissues and blood vessels which allows doctors to have a deeper insight into our health. Without nuclear medicine, we would be limited in our accurate ability to diagnose and treat diseases in medical imaging.
Finals week is here, but do not stress! Take a breather with the free final relief activities happening from April 29th to May 2nd. Good luck students!

Today, we are highlighting Magnetic Resonance Imaging!
The first MRI was used in the early 1980s as a clinical diagnostic device. Since then MRI has transformed healthcare! With the power of magnetic fields and radio waves, MRI machines capture detailed images of the body's interior, which aid in diagnosis and treatment.

Today, we are highlighting the X-ray Machine. The first X-ray was discovered by accident in 1895 by Wilhelm Roentgen. Roentgen was testing whether cathode rays could pass through glass and he was surprised with his results! He began to experiment more and found that light would pass through most substances but leave shadows of solid objects. This was a significant finding and doctors quickly began using X-rays in healthcare. Without the finding of X-rays, we would not have the different modalities of medical imaging that we have today!
