Next, I hope you all have checked out the national ACF convention! It is being held in
Las Vegas, Nevada. It’s so close to us this year, so I truly hope to see some of you guys
there! It will be a great learning experience and a great way to get some CEH’s going if you are looking to certify or recertify!
Also, I want to remind everyone that certifications and competitions are planned to
resume next year. If you are interested, please look at where you stand on requirements.
We are working on offering more CEH worthy meetings as well as acfchefs.org is another great resource! If you have any questions regarding this, please contact me! Or come to this month’s meetings with your questions because Chef David is the certification/competition wizard!
Thank you all for your continuous dedication and support of our chapter! If there is
someone in this chapter that you think deserves to be recognized for something they are doing or have done recently, please share it with me. I would love nothing more than to have someone to show off every month in these newsletters. It has been a long year without any sense of community or participation. I would love to have everyone help me change that.
I look forward to meeting with my “Ohana” again at our next meeting 5/23 at 6:00pm.
See you all soon!
Your President,
Chef Chloe Gibb

Some great memories of the ACF Conference earlier this year!
Hello everyone!
Happy Holidays! I hope everyone has been doing well. First, there will be NO meeting this month. I’m sure everyone is out of their minds busy. However, if you feel like you’re drowning or need someone to talk to, please don’t be afraid to reach out. Something we have been trying to do is really highlight how mental health is a huge part of all our lives. We are a community that supports each other, and I hope if you’re feeling overwhelmed, you talk to someone.
Last month we did not have a meeting due to COVID and not being able to secure a
spot. If you or you know anyone that is able/want to host, please let me know! Next, be on the lookout for next month! Our goal is to have a member’s dinner as we have done in previous years. When we have a finalized plan, I will send out the information.
I also want to thank each and every single one of you for your dedication to this chapter. It has been a long few years, surviving a pandemic none of us saw coming. It has rocked our industry and forced us all to deal with a lot of major changes. Change is something that is not always easy to go through or deal with either. So, I want to thank you all for staying with this chapter and the continuous support. I am so proud to see that we can still be a community and come together even though we are faced with hard times.
So, THANK YOU!!!!

Job stress is always an issue, especially more so with the ongoing pandemic. How you identify and deal with your mental health and stress levels can affect your well-being.
Learn how to recognize some symptoms of stress:
Feeling irritation, anger, or in denial
Feeling uncertain, nervous, or anxious
Lacking motivation
Feeling tired, overwhelmed, or burned out
Feeling sad or depressed
Having trouble sleeping
Having trouble concentrating
If you find yourself with any of these symptoms, take steps to de-stress:
*Identify those things which you do not have control over and do the best you can with the resources available to you.
*Increase your sense of control by developing a consistent daily routine when possible — ideally, one that is similar to your schedule before the pandemic.
*Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including social media. Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly can be upsetting and mentally exhausting
For more information about Job Stress and ways to manage it, visit: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/mental-health-non-healthcare.html
Mental and physical health are equally important components of overall health. For example, depression increases the risk for many types of physical health problems, particularly long-lasting conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. Similarly, the presence of chronic conditions can increase the risk for mental illness. For more information on how to better your mental health, visit https://www.cdc.gov/mentalhealth/tools-resources/index.htm
A major impact on anyone's mental health is stress. Try some of these methods to help manage your stress, and visit the CDC Page on managing stress (https://www.cdc.gov/mentalhealth/stress-coping/cope-with-stress/index.html) to learn more about stress, and it's impact on your mental health.
Good evening Everyone,
I wanted to update you all on what's been going on. Currently, due to the new spikes in COVID cases, our meeting cannot be held at the facility I had planned. Due to this, I've made the decision to not have a meeting this month. I would like everyone to focus on their mental health and whatever obstacles you may be facing. I would also like to use this to share something new. We will be creating a mental health page on Facebook, meant to give those who need a safe space to be able to share and interact with others regarding mental health. Once it is set up, I will send a link out to the page for everyone. Feel free to join for whatever your reasons maybe, but we ask that anyone who does join, that you remain respectful. This is not going to be a place to debate or have heated discussions, We want to begin the healing process that we have so long ignored in this industry. I hope you all know how much the board and myself care about each and every one of you. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please email me or someone on the board. I hope you all have a wonderful September, and I hope to be able to see you all again next month.
Until next time,
Your President,
Chef Chloe Gibb, CPC
