Always Follow-up!
Were words to grow by – and that idea – that you should follow up – always – I thought was just great, practical advice. It's so easy (and I’ve had it happen…) where you get all excited about meeting someone or getting someone to agree to what you need to be done – and you go out and just drop the ball. You get busy, you forget – and then it’s too late. Whether it’s a buyer or store manager or new supplier – remember to always ‘follow up’ Thanks, Lindsay!

Have Self Awareness!

Think and Act Long Term!
One of my high-energy shows was my interview of Ryne O'Donnell O’Donnel of the beverage company: Sol Ti. He has a unique perspective in that he founded and built the company originally and then lost control to investors. Of course, the investors didn’t really understand the brand or the loyal consumers – and he ended up buying it back!!

Be Resilient!
If there ever was a time, this is it – Resiliency must be at the core of every entrepreneur out there. This advice came from Katherine Harvey of Bare Bones. She went on to say that you will need “Grit, determination and humor” to build the kind of business you want. And remember, she said “There are no books or manuals out there for business building”

Never Stop Running!
This week, we’re going to step back to last Fall, when Marc Siden, Co-founder and CEO of Cloud Water Brands shared his advice with us. He put it rather simply.

Have Empathy!
As the Pandemic began to overtake us in early 2020, I called upon my friend Elliot Begoun of TIG Brands to jump on a last-minute show with me – and talk to founders and staff of smaller brands about getting through the pandemic and the coming paradigm shift.

Never Give Up!
In building her wonderful brand Outer Aisle Aisle, food brand, Jeanne David faced a whole host of challenges. Prior to launch, there were manufacturing issues – she insisted (and still does) that she needed to be in control of her tasty cauliflower-based products – even though everyone told her that she needed a co-man. She had the tenacity to hang in there, knowing that many times that’s what separates the winners and the others.
In the end, you have to trust your judgment and sometimes go against the common wisdom, even family and friends, to really make a difference. Building any brand is a challenge, but that’s why we do it, isn’t it? Thanks, Jeanne, for sharing the counsel and also some other great advice on the show!
