Changes for the Art School
After 12 years of filling a niche in the homeschool and Boise community, the Art School will change hands and name. The mission of the Art School will remain the same, a safe environment for children and youth to develop skills and create art. As the founder of the Art School, the decision was made easy when I realized that my dear friend Gillian Pishl would be the perfect fit for continuing the foundations that started this delightful journey all those years ago.
Gillian has cherished art for most of her life. Her earliest memories are of painting and drawing, and her enjoyment of creativity runs deep. She is a local artist getting back into the art world after taking a short break after having her first child. Gillian is thrilled to offer art classes for children and teens ages 8-18. Oil and Acrylic has two art classes scheduled with the possibility of more as interest increases. The first is Drawing and Design, and the second is Multi-Media (recommended for ages 8-12). To read details about the classes, head to her website www.oilandacrylic.com under the Lessons tab. Art classes can be purchased month-by-month or a semester at a time for a discount. Please feel free to contact Gillian directly at [email protected] with any questions. Above all else, her primary goal during art lessons is to foster confidence and enjoyment of creativity.
Oil and Acrylic will start classes on September 1st, space is limited, and there will be a waitlist option. Classes will be held in her home, located near Riverglen Jr. High School in Boise.
The creative journey I traveled with you and your artists has been rewarding and awe-inspiring. How grateful I am for your trust and support. My journey in creating, teaching, and helping will continue in a new direction as I complete a master's program in Art Therapy.
Keep creating!
Warmly,
Wendy Dickinson

Each week I ask the artists to step outside their comfort zone of “go-to” drawings when they are presented with a line. I typically draw people, flowers or animals. Today one of my students drew a line for me (the teal one) and I took my own advise. These line drawings are to take about 5 minutes.
