We loved being a part of this important event! Not only did we participate as a vendor, thanks to Idaho Workers Opportunity Network - IWON, Christina, our Business Development and Program Manager in north Idaho was able to participate as a volunteer as well!

Construction industry No.1 in workforce growth In no other industry is the boom of business more loudly heard than in the construction fields.

Community college enrollment is down, but skilled-trades programs are booming

Apprenticeship is an options multiplier.

"I want to be running it. But I have to learn the basics to it first before I can do that."

Speaking of construction trades, you can catch us at the Treasure Valley Construction Combine recruiting event with many of our Youth Apprenticeship partners next week.

Community college enrollment is down, but skilled-trades programs are booming Enrollment in two-year colleges has dropped nationwide by about 750,000 students. But degree programs in construction trades are booming.

We commend your bravery, Bridget! Great work.

Bridget McNamee, a member of Superintendent Ybarra's Student Advisory Council, celebrating the progress of House Bill 731, a bill addressing dyslexia! This Coeur d'Alene 4th-grader testified in support of the legislation before the House Education Committee last week - the bill is much needed, she said, to provide supports for her sister and other students with dyslexia, who represent “20 percent of the population and 80 percent of struggling readers”. House Bill 731 has passed the House and will now head to the Senate!

Superintendent Ybarra's 13-member Student Advisory Council identified dyslexia as one of its key issues thanks to Bridget's passion and engagement with the topic. Great job Bridget!

The boom in Idaho is no joke-- the growth is evident in construction opportunities. With more than 5,164 openings in construction careers, Idaho has a need for skilled labor RIGHT NOW!

We had a great day at the Magic Valley Valley Construction Expo in Twin Falls! High School students interested in learning about the construction industry, framing, electrical, plumbing, roofing and more attended this networking workshop with the region's leading contractors.

Shout out to our friends at @pauldavisrestorationinc and Construction Teacher, Cameron Hoge in the Twin Falls School District

We are proud to honor VP of Schools & Community Outreach, Robert Sanchez.
Dr. Sanchez is a retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel with 24 years of active-duty service at the tactical, operational, and strategic levels of the U.S. military and Department of Defense. He takes pride in his work at IBE where he works with public-school administrators and business leaders throughout Idaho in advancing the School House strategy promoting early childhood literacy, student achievement, and college/career readiness-- something he cares deeply about.
Those hard to come by initials in front of his name are from his hard work and dedication to learning. Dr. Sanchez holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Northwest Nazarene University, an MBA in Management and Marketing from Northwest Nazarene University, and a M.A. in Strategic Studies from the Command and General Staff College of the U.S. Army at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Dr. Lt. Col. Sanchez, we are proud and honored to have you on our team.

We want to honor some very special Veterans at IBE. First is VP of the Youth Apprenticeship Program, mother, daughter, sister, friend, mentor, connector, hero, and all-around baddy, Maureen O'Toole. Maureen served for 26 years in Active Duty, US Army Reserves, and the National Guard. Her accomplishments are too many to list and while we would suggest you ask her about them, she is far too humble... and some of them are classified, so there's that. Unfortunately, as many women in service do, she faced discrimination and harassment throughout her career. Despite this, she holds her time in high regard and her strength and pride shine through in everything she does. Lieutenant Colonel Maureen, your YAP team is proud and honored to be led by you.

Never one to waiver from the target, when asked what Maureen looks forward to, this is what she shared, "I look forward to talking with active service members, veterans, and their families about Registered Apprenticeship at the Idaho Veterans Chamber of Commerce Apprenticeship Presentation on November 16th"

We look forward to that, too.
