Talented Foothills alum Frannie Kocemba made this beautiful charcoal drawing for us last summer! It was recently chosen as a finalist for a competitive art competition at Art Source Gallery, where it will be on display for the month of March along with another of Frannie's pieces. A senior at Boise High this year, Frannie created this artwork called "The Jongleur Girl" based on her grandmother's photography. In Frannie's words: "The Guere ethnic group inhabits the small villages along the Ivory Coast of Africa. This young girl is a part of the Jongleurs, a group of children who are trained to perform intricate acrobatic dances in the community. Upon seeing her picture, I was intrigued by her intricate face paint and especially drawn to her eyes; she looks slightly wary and wise beyond her years."
