The Feeling of Unworthiness in Gen Z—And How We Can Help Fix It It’s true that Gen Z is the most media-saturated generation in history. And it’s true that their social capital—a largely digital socialization for many—is often rooted in their social media and online pursuits. It’s also true that we’re just now beginning to understand these effects.

As we start the new school year, here is a great article about the use of technology and the conversations you can have with your kids about it.
A Parent’s Guide to Talking with Kids about Technology All of life in the digital age is presenting us with a dizzying array of possibilities for where we spend our time, how we understand who we are, and how we perceive the world around us.

Dear CHCS Families,
The Idaho Parental Choice Tax Credit Program bill hearing is at the capitol tomorrow, Tuesday, March 12th. If this program passes, Idaho families will be eligible for a refundable tax credit worth up to $5,000. Importantly, the tax credit can cover the cost of private school tuition and fees. The hearing will be at 8 a.m. in the House Tax and Revenue Committee, located in room EW42. If you can, please plan to be at the capitol by 8 a.m. on Tuesday to sign up to testify (even earlier is better).
The committee will limit testimony to two minutes per person. The committee will not accept remote/virtual testimony. In-person testimony must be offered in front of the committee in room EW42. When you arrive, please sign up to testify in favor of House Bill 447. A sign-up sheet will be at the room's entrance. Please write down a very short testimony, no longer than 100-200 words, or one to two minutes. The power of your testimony cannot be overstated. If possible, please come to testify in person.
If you can't attend in person, please email your testimony to the Tax and Revenue Committee members to [email protected]. Make sure you put in the subject line that you support House Bill 447. There are example testimonies below to help you do this—the power of your testimony cannot be overstated.
Example #1
Dear Members of the Committee,
My name is [Parent Name]. My children are [student names]. I deeply appreciate that you are considering the Idaho Parental Choice Tax Credit bill, because it would be a lifeline for my family.
My child is currently enrolled in [school name]. Transitioning them from public school to a private school was not one we took lightly. It was a big change for everyone, and required a big commitment from us financially that we cannot easily afford. We ultimately made the decision to put [student name] in their new school because it was the best decision for them. Their confidence and academic progress has taken off, and we are so glad for this result. We would do it again in a heartbeat, but making it work is a stretch on our budget.
Please vote YES on the Idaho Parental Choice Tax Credit bill. Families like mine need this opportunity as soon as possible.
Thank you,
[Parent name]
Example #2
Dear Honorable Members of the Tax and Revenue Committee,
I am asking you today to support the Idaho Parental Choice Tax Credit.
The reality for families, including mine, is that public school alone is not the perfect fit for every child. My [son/daughter] needed another option, and we while we did not know if we could afford anything outside of their public school, we knew that our child could not afford to stay stuck in a school that was not serving them.
Today, [student name] is attending [school name]. It was a wonderful decision, but continues to put a strain our finances. We need the Idaho Parental Choice Tax Credit to pass, because it would allow us to care for our families other needs and will continue to ensure that our child is receiving the life-changing education they deserve.
Vote YES on the Idaho Parental Choice Tax Credit legislation.
Thank you,
[Parent name]
Example #3
Dear Members of the Committee,
My name is [parent name]. My child, now in [grade level], attends [school name]. This has not always been the case. My family always expected our children would attend their local public school, but after episodes of bullying and falling behind academically, we felt that we had no other choice than to find another educational environment.
[School name] has been a godsend. [Student name] is doing much better than before, and the school is a much better fit for our values.
Frankly it is a sacrifice for our child to attend a private school. We are not wealthy, and any assistance we could receive would be a needed relief.
The bottom line, though, is we are not alone. Many families are like ours- not flush with cash, but desperately needed a different option for their child. Like us, their child deserves to be in a setting where they can thrive in school.
I ask that you vote YES on the Idaho Parental Choice Tax Credit.
[Parent name]
