For those of us that are privileged enough to have A LOT of toys, toy rotation can be a very effective way of getting the most out of each toy Posted • Now might be a good time to talk about toy rotation. Why bother? Research has shown that playing with fewer toys is associated with sustained play. Too many toys seems to cause distractions. Kids play deeper and longer when fewer toys are available.
However, before you jump in and put toys away, take some time to observe your children when playing. Which toys are holding his or her interest? Don’t put away toys that your child values.
There are no hard and fast rules about how often to rotate toys. However, once a month is reasonable. But do whatever feels right for your family. HINT: Don’t put toys away in front of your children and leave favourites in their usual place.
Rotating toys keeps a child interested and focused in his play.
Allow your child’s play to guide you on how many toys are left out and how often to rotate them. Do the same thing for books.
Rotating toys is good for your kids and beneficial for your sanity too.

Scribbling! It’s not just nonsense.
In fact, it is SO important to embrace scribbling and recognize it as art and creativity!
Things caregivers can say:
“I see you moving your hand in a circle.”
“You are moving you hand so fast in a circle”
“I see you lifting you hand up and down! That makes dots!”
“You are holding a crayon.”
Don’t stifle the scribble. Embrace it as the most important beginning to a wonderful relationship with literacy and creativity!
