JOURNALISM INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY:
$15/hr, semester long
Hello, I started an internship with a couple friends. We're trying to get more Latine people into Idaho newsrooms by getting their foot into the industry with a semester long internship. This is oriented for Seniors, Juniors dedicated in a career in journalism - but don't know where to start after college.
We've put students in newsrooms like Boise State Public Radio, The Idaho Capitol Sun, Kiss FM, and one recent student even landed a job at the Idaho Statesman after her internship. We're pretty stoked.
I'm putting this on your radar now so you don't forget. We'll be taking applications for Spring semester in September. I'll keep sending reminders about the upcoming date. You're going to need to gather a couple things before then, like a resume obviously, but also:
• One professional or academic reference (journalism preferred, but not required).
• Two work samples (which can include student publication clips, previously published work, or coursework).
• A 750 word cover letter (required for print) or 2-minute video (preferred for broadcast) introducing the applicant and explaining why the applicant would benefit from the paid internship opportunity.
• The cover letter or video must also name at least one preferred outlet, and why. If the student is open to any opportunity, regardless of location, they can say that, too. Please note if you have the flexibility to work in other parts of the state (i.e. you live in Eastern Idaho but could work in Boise) or if you have certain cities or regions you prefer/are only able to work and live in.
GATHER THESE MATERIALS, before mid September. Please share with friends who might be interested. Reach out to me if you have any questions with "VOCES INTERNSHIP" in the subject line.

Here's the website.

** Additional information added June, 26:
Given an increase in campus and community-based COVID-19 infections, is extending its facility closure through July 5.
Read the most recent COVID-19 announcement at:

** Original post as follows:
Over the last 48 hours, Boise State University has been notified of eight positive or presumed positive cases of COVID-19 in individuals who have been on campus during the past week.
The university and/or Central District Health are notifying those who were in close contact with the individuals who tested positive; those close contacts will self-quarantine for 14 days and monitor themselves for symptoms.
Due to the increase in campus and community-based cases, Boise State will close campus-owned and controlled facilities from Tuesday-Sunday, June 23-28. During this time, the only individuals authorized to be in these facilities are security staff and housing administrative staff who are necessary to assist students who remain in campus housing. No other employees, vendors or contractors — regardless of position, exposure, or test results — are permitted on campus during this time. Departments will resume or continue to provide services remotely during this temporary facility closure.
The temporary closure will help mitigate the further spread of the virus by and between members of the university community, and ensure that facilities are appropriately disinfected.
The goal remains the health and wellbeing of the community and the timely opening of campus for students in the fall.
