Another reason to put your child in piano lessons.... Piano is by far the most versatile instrument and is a VERY big help when it comes to learning a second instrument

Making radio history! 🎄
The first major radio broadcast with voice and music was by Canadian inventor and radio pioneer Reginald Fessenden on Christmas Eve, 1906, in Brant Rock, Massachusetts. During the transmission, he played a piece of music on his violin and followed it by reading the story of the nativity from the gospel of Luke. The song he played on the violin is often cited as being John Sullivan Dwight's 'O Holy Night', making it one of the earliest, if not the first, musical pieces ever transmitted and heard over the radio.
The song has since been recorded by a number of musicians, including Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, and Luciano Pavarotti, and has been voted No.1 in The Nation's Favourite Carol on Classic FM for nine years running.
Voting for the Nation's Favourite Carol 2025 closes on Sunday 14 December at 23:59. Have your say here: https://clssicfm.co/nationsfavouritecarol

Dashing through the skies! 🚀
60 years ago, ‘Jingle Bells’ became the first song played in space when it was performed by astronauts Walter M. "Wally" Schirra Jr. and Thomas P. Stafford during NASA’s Gemini 6A space flight.
The pair had just completed the first ever rendezvous of two spacecraft in orbit, meeting with Gemini 7 spaceship piloted by Frank Borman and James Lovell Jr. In high spirits, the Gemini 6 astronauts decided to trick Nasa's Mission Control by pretending they had spotted a UFO, before playing the Christmas classic using a harmonica and miniature sleigh bells.

Happy Veterans Day!
Did you know?
Beethoven’s pianos had fewer keys. Early instruments had around 60. The full 88-key piano didn’t become standard until the late 1800s.

New thing happening... I have quite a few students who seem to do better playing by ear, so I'm going to start making instructional videos they can use at home to help with practice. I have posted two songs to this playlist on YouTube so far... I picked these two songs as one of my students should be moving on to them this week or next. They are made for kids but anyone can watch them.
I will be gradually adding songs to this playlist probably about every other day or two depending on my student's needs as YouTube will only let me post so many videos in a certain timeframe.
Here's the link to the playlist!
