Meet the President and Vice President Candidates!
Kenneth Huston & Sarah Smith
"We believe ASBSU is meant to be an unbiased, apolitical organization that exists to support and advocate for students. We have actionable plans to enhance student support services on campus including mental health, food insecurity, and transparency of ASBSU. Our existing relationships with the University Administration and knowledge of the various initiatives on campus make our Presidency the most prepared to make a substantial change on day one. Vote Huston Smith for ASBSU to serve you."
Eric Kline and Solenne De Tassigny
"Boise State is in need of a reimagining of its student government. As your President and Vice President, Eric and Solenne vow to improve ASBSU and BSU by returning power to the students and providing student organizations with the resources they need to thrive. We will commit to improving transparency and communication, expanding the power of clubs and students in ASBSU, and reviving your favorite BSU events as we prepare to enter a post-covid world. We will commit to bringing out the best of BSU by ensuring that ASBSU gives everything it has to support and uplift our student body."
Jacinta Rigi and AJ Mayer
"Why are we running? It is simple. We are doing this because we care. We have been silenced for too long. Transparency between ASBSU and the students is not an option. It is a necessity. No more division. United we must stand. We are representing all voices because we have the right to be heard and the right to have an impact on issues involving our university, Boise State. With us representing the student body as your President and Vice President, there will be no more silence, no more cancelation. No voice is too small. Boise state will hear us all."
Voting occurs March 22-23. A voting link will be sent to the Boise State student email address for all eligible voters.
Voters will have the option to vote for the candidate(s), abstain from voting for the position, or write-in a candidate.
Meet the Vice President of Inclusive Excellence candidates!
Grace Burgert
"My name is Grace Burgert (she/her/hers) and I’m running for Vice President of Inclusive Excellence. When I first came to Boise State in 2019, I was overwhelmed with the support our multicultural, gender equity, and educational access organizations provided. From Talk-O-Bout-It Tuesdays with the MLK Living Legacy committee to coloring nights with the Gender Equity Center, these events truly showed me the power of diversity, inclusion, and equity. My goal for Boise State is to promote diversity, inclusion, and equity as a benefit – not a requirement. I’m excited to inform, educate, and advocate for all marginalized voices on campus."
Sara Mandura
"If elected, I strive to introduce to students across campus to the ways oppression is present in all aspects of life. I plan to collaborate with different clubs and initiatives on Boise State’s campus to show this, with the specific example of promoting mask-wearing as COVID-19 unproportionally targets POC communities. I will also put solving situations of oppression at the frontline of my priorities to ensure an inclusive environment for all students. As Boise State becomes more and more diverse, we must continue fostering a culture that is built on inclusivity and historical competence."
Voting will be open March 22-23. A voting link will be sent to the student email of all eligible voters.
Voters will have the option to vote for the candidate(s), abstain from voting for the position, or write-in a candidate.
Meet the Vice President of Academic Affairs Candidates!
Graf Kirk
"As someone seeking a career in medicine, it might seem odd for a Biology student like myself to be making a bid for a position on the Executive Council for ASBSU. Yet I am running for VPAA, not just because I have experience in the role, but because I am an academic who can vouch on behalf of our education.
I will focus on what has brought us together here at BSU: pursuing a higher education. As your VPAA I will continue to ensure your academic needs receive proper attention and your issues are addressed with ASBSU and BSU faculty."
Soren Witter
"There is a lot to improve academically at Boise State University. Being the child of an alumni, I’ve loved Boise State from a young age and want to make it the best that it can be. In order to do this, there needs to be better communication between students and faculty. My goal is to provide that bridge between students and the university. I have a diverse background from research, clubs, and dual enrollment among other things that will allow me to better understand where students are coming from."
Voting is open March 22-23! A voting link will be sent to the student email of all eligible voters.
Voters will have the option to vote for the candidate(s), abstain from voting for the position, or write-in a candidate.
Meet the VP of Organizational Affairs Candidate!
Kayla Magana
"My name is Kayla Magana and I am running for Vice President of Student Organization Affairs. It is my priority to make all students feel comfortable and like they belong to Boise State University. If I am elected, I will take all feedback given to me and take all necessary steps to make sure that you are not only heard, but listened to. I strongly believe that we must be the change we want to see in the world. I will do the most I can to provide the best opportunities to Student Organizations to make the most out of every students’ experience. Our university is already a wonderful school, but there is always room for improvement. Together, we can all be the change that we want to see at Boise State."
Voters will have the option to vote for the candidate(s), abstain from voting for the position, or write-in a candidate.
