Countless hours, THOUSANDS of pounds of food and $11,700 later, the Boise State Food Pantry is ready to serve our campus community.

On Friday, Nov. 19, the pantry team, plus 40 volunteers, will distribute 230 Thanksgiving Meal Kits - enough to feed approximately 1,000 people.

We are thankful for Albertsons, ASBSU and Dean of Students, Boise State, as well as all of our food pantry donors, volunteers, students and staff.

Thank you.

Reflecting on this past year, we’ve all experienced significant challenges unlike any we’ve faced before. Regardless of the obstacles, Boise State University tackled them head-on, leading to excellent outcomes for our students, the community, and the university’s future. Our ability to use innovation and creativity to achieve successful results was fostered through our alumni and friends’ support.

When many students became unemployed a year ago due to business closures, we saw an increase in the need for emergency funds to cover unexpected expenses. Some students became food insecure. Your support provided more than $44,000 towards the ASBSU Food Pantry and $26,000 in emergency funds. These critical gifts helped students when other options were limited.

When the Athletics program needed assistance, Bronco Nation came through, helping the nearly 400 young men and women student-athletes and sports programs get through the tough times with nearly $700,000 in gifts and membership fees. Your membership and gifts to the Bronco Athletic Association provide needed tuition, books, nutrition, and academic support.

Your gifts also came in the form of paid internships. This year’s launch of the Bronco Corps, a program that staffs Idaho small businesses and nonprofit organizations with student interns at no cost, was due to the generosity of $30,000 in private funding. The program helps students learn while gaining valuable hands-on work experiences.

Students and faculty from the Albertsons Library MakerLab, Engineering Innovation Studio, and others teamed up to help make personal protective equipment for the community to aid the front-line pandemic workers. Clear facial coverings for healthcare workers were made from materials bought using philanthropic gifts from our alumni and friends.

These are just a few areas where Boise State donors joined us to make our communities safer while improving our students’ educations. Your support puts Boise State in a better place as we head into the future.
What’s next on the horizon for Boise State?
