Do you know what is super fun to teach AND learn? Nature journaling. I’ve been teaching it on Outschool for about five months and have been amazing at how much connection to nature and the content learned by my students. We learned about navigation, how to use a compass, how to find dry material to burn after it has rained, how far away lightning is, how to stay safe during a storm, how to use a sling shot, how to use matches, start a small camp stove fire, and what magnesium looks like when sparked. Such a great time!

What a full afternoon of fun! We caught fish, a baby crawdad, built a fort, climbed trees, shared stories, did a read-aloud, went on a nature walk, recorded our day in nature journals, and learned about bats! 🦇 Such a great and adventurous group of kids!

A wonderful first day of forest school! ☀️

The sun was out and the site was perfect. We told stories, added to our fort, found creatures in the water, went on a nature walk, climbed trees, used our nature journals, and built little tiny fairy forts. No one wanted class to end!

An adventurous little nature walk today.

Building friendships and being imaginative together. It has been really wonderful to see bonds being formed between these little humans. Being outside together in nature allows a safe place for learning and time to be social.
