Operating as usual

Hey everyone, we have just a few private lesson spots available Aug. 15-18. Mr. Tyler will be the teacher and the lessons will be between 12:30 and 2:30 in 15 minute increments. If you are interested please email us at [email protected] with your student's name, age and swim level.

We know it's chilly this morning, but the pool is warm and we are ready to start another session. Don't forget a nice fluffy towel for after class.

I have one open spot in an ADVANCED class (must be able to swim multiple lengths of the pool - doesn't have to be pretty), June 13 - 23 at 10 - 10:30. I looked through the waitlist and didn't see anyone needing just one advanced spot so let me know if you or someone you know could use it!

Classes for Monday, May 30th cancelled
Hi swimmers! Due to the terrible forecast of cold, rainy weather we are going to postpone the start of this week's lessons until Tuesday, May 31. We will continue classes Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the regularly scheduled times. We hope this doesn't mess up everyone's plans, but thought especially the youngest swimmers would not do well in the rain and cold tomorrow.

I have a family who is looking for another family to share two 15-minute private lessons with. They have 1 beginner and 1 intermediate so they're looking for another family with the same (or 2 families - 1 with a beginner and 1 with an intermediate). Their kiddos are in the 4 to 7 year old range, I believe if that helps. Message me if you're interested and I'll connect you with them.

This year we have radically changed our offerings and our signup process. Please be sure to read all of the details on our website at BEFORE Friday, April 29th at 7:00 a.m. Here is a video that walks you through the signup process so you know exactly what to expect!

The 2022 Schedule is now up! There will be TWO registrations this year. Registration for Private Lessons and Private Family Group Lessons will be next Friday, April 29th at 7:00 a.m. Registration for traditional group lessons will be Friday, May 13th at 7:00 a.m. For all of the details please read the description of classes, description of levels, instructions for registration (on the homepage) and the schedule at

We are so sorry, but due to staffing shortages and some family issues needing immediately addressing, we are delayed on getting the 2022 Schedule and Registration Info to you. Please check the wesite next Saturday, April 17th for the Summer 2022 Schedule and Registration Info. Registration will most like open up near the end of April, but the exact day and time will be posted next Saturday. Again, we apologize for the delay!

Our NEW swim program for 2022! Why the change, details and what to expect!

I have a single advanced spot available starting this Monday June 28 - July 8 at 10 a.m. if anyone is interested. Everyone on the waitlist is waiting for a combination of 2 advanced or an advanced with another level. This is just a single advanced spot. Thanks!

If you see Miss Cindy at the pool today, be sure to tell her HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! She is the best mom, friend, business partner, preschool and SWIM teacher in the world!

Here is another solution to the parking problem. If you have an older child that is an intermediate or advanced swimmer you are welcome to drop them off and pick them up. You can use the 30 minutes to go get Sonic or run a quick errand. 😊

For those coming to swim, construction has stepped up. Unfortunately it will look like this for several more weeks to months. Please be creative and think about how you might be able to get here other than family cars. At the very least please make sure to not have more than one car here per family and no extra spectators at this time. Those orange cones will be blocking my frontage all the way to the mailbox tomorrow and Thursday. You are welcome to park two deep in our driveway. We realize that will take some coordination if someone parked closest to the gargage needs to leave, but it will provide several more safe spots to park. Thanks for working with us and each other.

We are so humbled and truly amazed at the awesome clients we have at Cathy's School For Lil' Fish. Your response at registration was even more than past years (We didn't think that was possible). We are truly grateful for each and every one of you and wish we were able to offer more classes. At this time we have responded to all of the registration forms we received on 4/27. However, it appears that some registration forms weren't received :( We have never had to close registration before 7:15 before, but this year with our reduced schedule due to school getting out later (thanks CoVID) and some family events we have going on at the end of the summer, we knew we had less spots than usual and the forms came in faster than usual so we had to shut registration down at 7:03:10. We believe there were some forms that were submitted right about that time that looked like they went through on your end, but didn't come through on ours. We've been using this system for 9 years now and this is the first time we've had this happen. It really is heartbreaking to us to have to turn anyone away :( Thank you for your support and grace. It is much appreciated.

Registration Update: We have reached out to the first 133 families who sent in forms this morning. That only got us to 7:01:58, so if you submitted at 7:02 or later, we'll get back to you tomorrow when we work on the last 70ish forms! Thank you for your patience!

Swim Registration 2021

Can't believe it's almost time to DIVE into registration for swim lessons 2021! Registration opens TUESDAY, April 27th at 7:00 a.m. The schedule has been posted on our website at along with information about how to register. See you poolside!

With the warmer weather, we are getting a lot of questions about our 2021 season, so here's what you need to know! We are a seasonal business with an outdoor, heated pool so we will be running swim lessons June - August. Our summer 2021 schedule will be posted on our website on April 1st, so check back then to see our 2021 schedule! Generally speaking, we run classes Monday - Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. On April 1st we will also post details for this year's registration. We normally open registration sometime around the 3rd week of April to give you time to check out the schedule and figure out what works with your other summer plans prior to registering. But the exact day and time of registration will be posted here on our website on April 1st along with the schedule. If you're wondering what level to register your kids for, please click on the schedule tab on our website and scroll to the bottom for a description of each level. You can find our website at

If you are missing something it may be in our lost and found. We have a variety of clothes items, water bottles, towels and shoes. Just give us a call and describe what you're missing. We'll let you know if it's here.

It's raining, it's pouring....and the wind is blowing so we are postponing the start of our swim session until tomorrow, Tuesday, June 30. As outlined in an email sent last night, makeup lessons for today's classes will be held on Friday, July 10. Sorry for the inconvenience, but Mother Nature is not cooperating today and we would like especially the littlest fish to have a good first experience.

Woo Hoo! Weather is warming and the skies are blue. Classes resume at 11:30!

"Baby it's cold outside" and it's raining and windy so we are canceling our 10:00, 10:30 and 11:00 classes this morning, Wed. June 17. Please check back to see if the rest of our classes will be held. Makeup classes for those canceled will be held on this Friday, June 19th at the same times.

Yes, it's chilly and yes we are swimming. The pool is warm.

One of you wonderful swim moms brought me a bottle of hand sanitizer from Trader Joe's. I remember talking to you pool side about this, but now I can't remember which mom you were. So sorry for my scattered brain. I would love to reimburse you. Just drop me a message on this page or give me a call. Thanks so much, Cindy

Things are going to look a little different this summer! Please be aware of these policy changes!!!
In light of the CoVid19 pandemic and in an effort to support social distancing, some of our policies will be different for the summer of 2020.

LIMITING ATTENDANCE: Only one adult and one car per family may come to swim lessons each day. We know that the kids love being cheered on by parents, grandparents etc. but to help minimize parking problems and to keep the numbers on our property as low as possible we will allow only one adult per day. Mom and Dad can switch off so that both can see the progress.

SOCIAL DISTANCING: While waiting for your class to begin, please sit as families outside the pool area and maintain social distancing rules. When your class is called, please come inside the fence by way of gate number 1 and remain inside the gated pool area during your child’s lesson. We will have chairs grouped around the pool allowing for as much social distancing as possible. Those leaving lessons should exit via gate 2.

If you have children in multiple levels, the family should stay together as a group either inside the pool fence or outside and avoid socializing in the yard.

CLEANING & SANITATION: We will be doing additional cleaning of the porta potty to keep surfaces clean and the sunshine will help immensely too. We will also have cleaning supplies on the table at the pool to wipe down and sanitize chairs between use.

REFUNDS: Normally, refunds are only issued in case of severe illness (if they have to miss multiple days of the session) or death in the immediate family. However, this year if you decide to cancel your lessons due to general concerns about CoVid19, you may receive a full refund if that cancellation takes place at least 72 hours before the start of your swim session. If you suspect that you have been directly exposed to CoVid19 or you or any member of your family is exhibiting any of the following symptoms: fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), please DO NOT come to lessons and we will provide a refund.

With the pandemic and quarantine, things have been a bit uncertain, but we're ready to get the ball rolling on registration! A limited schedule has been posted on our website at We are hoping to add to this schedule as summer progresses based on the status of the pandemic and teacher availability. Registration will begin Thursday, May 14th at 7 a.m. Please visit the homepage of our website for more details on registration! Can't wait to swim with you all this summer!

Hi Swimmers, I know we told you that today we would post the summer schedule, but with the shut-in order in place until April 30 we are going to postpone just a little longer. We are hopeful that with some changes in the way we do swimming that we can provide another summer of fun and safe instruction.

Hello Lil' Fish! With the advent of COVID-19 and social distancing, we are unsure of when we will be able to open this year. For this reason, we have decided to push back our registration. For now, we are planning on posting our summer 2020 schedule on April 22nd and will most like do registration near Wednesday, May 6th. Check back on the website on the 22nd and we will hopefully have our schedule up and a confirmed registration day at that time. Hope you are all staying safe, healthy and sane :) Much love! Cathy & Cindy

Never fear! Registration is NOT yet here :) Ha ha! With this abnormally warm winter, I'm getting a lot of questions about registration for summer 2020. Here's what you need to know: We will post our schedule on our website by April 1st. At that time, we'll post when registration will be, but it's usually around the end of April, between April 18th and the 24th, so plan around that time of year. Can't wait to see you all! Many years ago my mom fell into her backyard pool as a 2-year-old and had a near-drowning experience. My grandmother went looking for swim lessons, and at the time, the Red Cross didn't recommend lessons until age 6! So she started teaching all the neighborhood kids to swim, determined to keep them safe. She taught for more than 60 years & up until 3 months before she died of bone cancer. She sat on a board that helped to write the infant curriculum for the Red Cross. She trained my mom to be a swim teacher and I was able to spend 2 summers with her learning from her as well. It's a family legacy :)

Learning to be a good swim teacher is about so much more than breaking down strokes. It's learning how to connect with each student at their level. It's learning to read body language and tone of voice to decipher when a child is truly afraid, when they are manipulating you or just feeling defiant :) It's knowing when to push a little harder to help them overcome a fear and when they just need nurturing. It's recognizing when you're not getting through to them and you come up with a new way to teach the concept so they can get it. It's about making each child feel important and safe. It was a proud moment for me today seeing my two sons in the pool becoming EXCELLENT swim instructors. I know my grandma was smiling down from heaven :)

I have some last-minute openings in BEGINNER classes starting tomorrow, June 25 through next Wednesday, July 3rd (Tues - Fri this week and Mon - Wed next week, 7 lessons total for $61). I have 1 spot at 10:00 and one at 1:00. Let me know if you want one!
