We’re beyond excited to host our Bi-Annual Black Belt Testing this Saturday, May 30th at 11:00 AM at Les Bois Junior High School (4150 E. Grand Forest Dr., Boise)!

📅 Please note: No regular classes will be held on Saturday due to this special event.

Join us as we celebrate the dedication, perseverance, and hard work of our students as they take one of the biggest steps in their martial arts journey!

A huge thank you to our amazing Leadership Team ladies for spending the day creating a 30-foot banner for our upcoming Black Belt Testing this Saturday! 🥋🔥

Each letter was creatively designed to represent all of our color belt levels, along with some incredible artwork and details throughout the banner. The message reads:

“A Black Belt is a White Belt That Never Gave Up!”

We are so proud of the hard work, teamwork, creativity, and leadership these young ladies demonstrated while putting this together. Thank you all for helping make this event so special!

🇺🇸 Memorial Day Weekend 🇺🇸

Just a reminder that Master Kim’s Taekwondo will be closed from Saturday, May 23rd through Monday, May 25th in honor of Memorial Day. Regular classes will resume on Tuesday, May 26th.

This weekend, we honor and remember all of the brave men and women who have served our country — especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. Thank you to all who have served and continue to serve. ❤️🤍💙

Master Bae and I are also taking a short trip to South Lake Tahoe, California — one of the places where I grew up before moving to Boise. Tahoe is where much of my foundational martial arts journey began and where I spent countless years competitively skiing / snowboarding, mountain biking, and martial arts training.

I’m also hoping to reconnect one day with my own instructor, Master Mike Trisler. I may be “Master Kim” to many of our students today, but growing up, he was my “Master Kim.” Looking back, I realize just how much mentors and instructors can shape the direction of our lives.

Congratulations to our amazing instructor, Mr. Orrin, for officially graduating from Timberline High School! 🎓🥋

Mr. Orrin will be walking at graduation tonight, and while we wish we could be there cheering him on, of course we’ll be on the mats teaching classes! We could not be more proud of everything he has accomplished.

This fall, Mr. Orrin will be attending Boise State University majoring in Entrepreneurship Management, while continuing to assist and teach at Master Kim’s Taekwondo nearly full-time. His dedication, leadership, and passion for teaching have made an incredible impact on our students and community.

We are also incredibly excited to announce that Mr. Orrin will officially become the very first recipient of the Master Kim’s Taekwondo Leadership & Excellence Scholarship, where he will receive college tuition assistance while continuing his journey as an instructor and leader at our school.

Your drive, work ethic, and dedication to becoming the best instructor possible inspire me every single day. 46th Belt Promotion Test – May 13th, 2026 🥋

Congratulations to all of our students who successfully earned their next belt this week! Wednesday’s Belt Promotion Test was absolutely incredible, and we were so proud to see the focus, preparation, effort, and determination displayed by every student on the mat.

A belt test represents so much more than just earning the next rank. It reflects discipline, perseverance, confidence, and the commitment to continue showing up — even on the difficult days.

Every student demonstrated what it truly means to never give up on your goals, and we could not be more proud of each and every one of you.

Keep striving. Keep growing. Keep pushing forward. 💪🥋

2026 Mom and Me Mother’s Day Celebration 🌸

Last Saturday, we had the honor of celebrating some of the most amazing moms during our annual Mom and Me Event! Our mats were packed for two special sessions where moms had the opportunity to train alongside their children, learn some of the basics of Taekwondo, and even break boards! Everyone definitely worked up a sweat, and it was another truly memorable day for our MKTKD family.

Students also read a special Mother’s Day poem, and each mom received a special gift thoughtfully prepared by Master Bae (who is very passionate about skincare 😄): Korean skincare sets including facial masks, cleansers, serums, and creams!

To all of our incredible moms — we honor and appreciate you for everything you do for your families. From the endless driving back and forth, to the sleepless nights caring for sick children, to the early mornings spent making sure everyone else is ready for their day… your love, sacrifice, and support never go unnoticed.

Happy Mother’s Day, and thank you for being the heart of your families and such an important part of our community. ❤️

2026 Annual Mom & Me Event 💐🥋

We are officially FULLY BOOKED for this Saturday’s special Mother’s Day event!

We’re so excited to celebrate with all of our amazing moms as they join us on the mat—learning Taekwondo, breaking boards, and making unforgettable memories together. 💪💖 We’ve also prepared some special gifts just for them!

Both sessions are currently full, but we do have an active waitlist and are reaching out to families for any last-minute openings.

Thank you all for the incredible support—we can’t wait for an amazing event! 🙌

✨ A Special Visit from One of Our Own! ✨

This past week, we had the pleasure of welcoming back one of our former instructors, Miss Anna, all the way from Kansas! 💛

Since moving last year with her family, she has been greatly missed here at Master Kim’s Taekwondo. Miss Anna was an incredible leader, a dedicated instructor, and someone who made a lasting impact on so many of our students and families. 🥋

We had such a great time catching up with her, and it meant a lot to hear how much she still misses being on the mats with our team.

She is now on an exciting new path—pursuing an apprenticeship and working toward becoming an electrician! ⚡ We are so proud of her for continuing to grow, challenge herself, and chase new goals!

And who knows… 👀
Maybe one day we’ll see her back on the mats again?

🥋🔥 Last Saturday, we held our Physical Fitness Testing for the candidates who are testing for their official Black Belt next month! Congratulations to all of you! 👏💪

Every student showed up with incredible perseverance, drive, and determination, and that is exactly what this journey is all about. 🙌

Hundreds of jumping jacks, push-ups, sit-ups, and kicks were performed throughout the day, and we are proud to say that every single student passed and pushed through successfully! 🎉

This is a major milestone for these amazing students, and next stop… their official Black Belt Testing! 🥋🏆🚀
