I am taking an Italian class right now so I can live out a LONGTIME dream of traveling to Italy and am reminded that the brain processes music and language in much the same way. It is coming along easier than I expected my old-ish brain to facilitate. Esmerelda (my teacher) invites us to echo her, much like Ed, Edna and Edison in Let's Play Music classes do and it's fun to see that my early ear-training applies in language study!

Our family has been on a trip for the last week and a half. We spent some time at a museum in Minneapolis, where parents read the plaques and pictures explaining the history of the city. Kids, by contrast, were pleased as punch to learn how they harnessed the energy of a waterfall in the Mississippi River to facilitate successful logging and milling operations in Minneapolis. How did they learn this? By experiencing it through interactive exhibits, of course! Experience precedes learning-this is one of the fundamental principles behind the Let’s Play Music curriculum!
