Focus on getting good nutrients, not how many calories you are eating. The obsession with calorie counting is not the path to sustained weight loss and/or health. Learning to choose nutrient dense foods regardless of their calorie content is not only a necessary skill set to pass onto our children, but one that will break our unhealthy relationship with food and dieting. Density over dieting!! 💪💪

My husband told me something a while ago that has stuck with me. “Let go of the things you can’t control and concentrate on those you can”. Conception, pregnancy, and birth are the beginning of parenthood, and by that I mean we begin to realize how little control we have 😂😭. My midwife asked me what my birth plan was, and honestly I hadn’t even thought about it. I was busy doing the things I could control to the best of my ability-eating well, exercising, keeping my stress low. So I ended up answering “I want the baby inside of me to come out” 😂. A few weeks later I found out that my babe was breach and I decided to have a C section. As someone who did a vaginal unmedicated birth the first time around, scheduling a surgery to birth my next baby was quite a change. But I thought back to the answer I gave my midwife, and realized that, even though this was a totally different experience than I had envisioned it accomplished my “birth plan”. And more than that, I had prepped my body and my babies body with exercise/good diet to be strong and resilient no matter what type of birth we were destined to have. The C section recovery was the hardest physical thing I have had to do (including my first birth!) but by golly if my body didn’t exceed my expectations by healing quickly and well, thanks to my good health, and Miss Arwen is thriving. I controlled the things I could and was able to let go of those I couldn’t, and if that isn’t a good lesson in parenthood and life then I don’t know what is. ❤️
