Hello and Happy New Year,
My name is Patrick Mallory and I am a doctoral student at Boise State University, working on my Doctorate of Education in Curriculum & Instruction, specializing in Special Education. I am conducting my dissertation research on the implementation of a technology-aided self-management support for high school students with autism enrolled in online schooling. As most of us are well aware, there has been a HUGE increase in enrollment in online schooling over the past few years, yet not very much research has been done that looks at supports for students with ASD in this type of learning environment.
I am currently looking for a few students/parents to take part in my research project. The duration of this study will last approximately 4-6 weeks (possibly less) from late January- early March . To qualify for this study your student must:
· Be in enrolled in an online high school program
· Have an educational classification or medical diagnosis of Autism
· Have a need for self-management support

What participation entails?
If you chose to participate, your child will not be required to do much above and beyond what they are typically expected during their classes, except being asked to use a mobile app that will be used to support their self-management. Parents and students will receive training on how to use the support. A few 20 minute in-person and/or remote observations of the student will be required each week so behavioral data can be collected. Students will also be asked to complete a very brief 5-question questionnaire at the end of each observation session. As parents, you will be asked to help implement the support with your child. You will receive training on the support system prior to implementation as well as ongoing coaching and support to help you along the way. Throughout data collection, you will be asked to participate in 3 brief interviews (roughly 15-30 minutes each) regarding your experience with the intervention.
