On April 24th, Idaho EcosySTEM Student Ambassadors (IESA) from across the state were invited to attend the first IESA Convening at Idaho National Laboratories! Our Student Ambassadors had the opportunity to participate in fun, team building activities, meaningful discussions on their experiences as Student Ambassadors, and learned more about the different employment opportunities for students interested in STEM careers.
The highlight of the event was the INL tour! Our Student Ambassadors visited two different facilities, learning about the breakthroughs that INL is making in biomass energy generation, nuclear power plants, and cybersecurity. Before departing, each student chose one goal to work toward, continuing their journey of STEM learning.
A huge thanks to Sunshine Shepherd and INL for empowering our next generation of STEM leaders!

Read the draft here: https://tinyurl.com/ecosystemdraft
Over the past several months, the Idaho STEM Ecosystem and our partners have been intentionally refreshing our Strategic Plan and we’re excited to share that we’re now in the final feedback phase!
Provide feedback here: https://tinyurl.com/4aewb6n8
We’re especially looking for partner input on:
✔️ The clarity and value of the plan
✔️ Where it aligns with your work
✔️ Any overlaps, gaps, or missed opportunities
Next, we’ll move into implementation- setting short-term priorities, defining success metrics, and aligning our work so this plan leads to meaningful action.
Our Big Goals:
• Build deep, durable partnerships rooted in trust and collaboration
• Elevate and share the impact of STEM happening across Idaho
• Better align community needs and assets to reduce duplication and spark collaboration
• Strengthen our internal capacity to support partners with clearer communication and coordination
Thank you for helping shape what’s next. We’re stronger together! 💙

At the heart of the Idaho STEM Ecosystem Ambassador (IESA) Program is student voice. When young people are given space to lead, connect, and share their experiences, communities grow stronger.
In this podcast episode, Stoker of Ada School District sits down with five student ambassadors (grades 8–10) to talk about what it means to be part of IESA, the opportunities it has opened for them, and how they are shaping the future of STEM in Idaho.
Their stories reflect exactly why this work matters. 🎧👇
